1. You tear up every time you hear the National Anthem.
I know I cannot be the only one who does this. There is something about the imagery that comes to mind when the song says "the bombs bursting in air gave proof through the night that our flag was still there." I am tearing up just thinking about it.
2. This is you on the Fourth of July:
Some people may not get your style, but I do. You go, Glen Coco!
3. You may have various sizes of the American flag displayed inside and outside of your house.
Betsy Ross sure knew what she was doing. Our flag is so beautiful.
4. This may have been a very real thought for you at one point.
But really though....
5. You have the deepest respect for active military and veterans.
The men and women that fight for our country are some of the bravest people I have ever met. Please thank a veteran for his or her service. Veterans have fought so hard for America and for the freedom that we enjoy every day.
6. Patriotism is not just about songs and symbols to you.
The ideas and dreams our founding fathers had when they came here to make a better life for themselves and their families are what set America apart. If you read the Declaration of Independence, you will see that all men [and women] are created equal, and that we all have rights that cannot be alienated by government. Our rights include life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Liberty is what makes America great. And that is something worth fighting for.
It does not matter if you were born and raised in America or not. If you are proud to call America home, America is proud to be your home.
"There is nothing wrong with America that the faith, love of freedom, intelligence, and energy of her citizens cannot cure." -Dwight D. Eisenhower
