Have you ever wondered if you have an obsession with books? Do your family and friends tell you all the time that you are book crazed and too attached to stories? If you've answered yes to either of these two questions, then you may be a total book junkie. Maybe you already know that you have a bit of a reading "habit", there's no harm in that.. right?
1. You have more books than actual space.
If you have no more space to place any books then that is probably a sign of a reading addiction. Hey! Not such a bad thing, build yourself a fortress of books to live under. (Or maybe two separate fortes because you had too many for the first one....)
2. Making references to a book that someone else doesn't understand.
Let's face it, we have all had that one conversation where we brought up a book scene and no one else understood what on earth you were talking about. The image above is your friends reaction when you go on a rant about your favorite book and while you might not like to admit it, you do that pretty often.
3. Reading the book before seeing the movie.
You're all about looking to see what inspired the movie while most of your friends are probably ready to hit the theaters without even glancing at the cover. You're also sad when the cast of the movie or show isn't who you imagined while reading. (Trust me, I've missed more movie dates then I can count because I wanted to read the book first.)
4. Crying when a character dies or something doesn't work out.
Laughing, crying, being outraged, etc. are all signs of being a book junkie. Most characters in books are who you consider to be your friends and you don't want to lose a single one because you've grown attached to them. Sure you know that characters aren't real, but that doesn't stop you from having a good sob if something happens to them. After all, they are real to you. (Can we just talk about Henri from the "Lorien Legacies" series? *Sobs*)
5. Buying a book the moment it comes out.
You can't wait to find out what happens to your favorite characters, and you need to know right this minute! You are waiting by the door for the sales associate to open the door for you! (Pffft...City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare was definitely not in my hand the moment it was released..... Sorry Amanda at Barnes and Noble! I didn't mean to run you over by trying to get to the display.....)
6. You bring a book with you everywhere you go.
You always have a book on you wherever you are headed! You're waiting for some moments of free time to bury your head away in the story! Ladies, you have a large purse on hand so that you can hold a book for on the go traveling. (Guilty as charged!)
7. You are used to receiving strange looks from your friends when you tell them that you actually enjoy reading.
Reading isn't for everyone, and you've surely have received many strange looks from people when you tell them that you spend your free time reading. You easily maneuver around those weird conversations with your friends who don't read, and jump with excitement when you find someone who shares your hobby. By now, you already know what to expect, and you're ready for the really weird looks! (Guys... reading is actually really fun! Let me tell you about this one bo- hey.. where did everyone go?)
8. You know all of the places to buy books at cheap prices.
You know you read a lot when you have to search the Internet for cheaper booksellers. You love reading, but not the hardback prices. Dedicated book lovers know all of the right places to score the right prices and a great book. (Psst… Ollies Bargain Outlet is a great place to find some cheap reads!)
9. You have a specific order for your books.
Normal people don't care how their books look or sit on the shelves, but you have a specific order, and you're not going to rest until every book you own is in its correct spot. (Obviously the books go in alphabetical order by author, date of publication, height, color, and Series go with series.. it's not that complicated... right?!)
10. You treat your books like their your kids.
You really love your books and you would die if oneof them got ruined. You definitely take caution in who you lend your books to, or if you lend them out at all. Maybe one day you'll hand kids that can read them… Meh… Not even they can touch them. (Trust no one.)
