Now, I don't wanna toot my own horn, but I was a pretty cool theatre kid... or at least I think so. The countless hours of rehearsals, dance practices, memorization deadlines, dress rehearsals and show dates were so worth every drop of sweat, tears, and laughs spilled on that stage. When I look back at high school, I don't think about that one Spanish test, or the math homework I probably did very poorly on.. No. I remember the memories I shared with my cast members, and I will forever hold those close to my heart.
.The "Sorry, I can't! I have rehearsal" texts were a real thing, my friends.
.The relationship you grew with your other cast members was weird and amazing at the same time.
.You can memorize song lyrics at an extremely terrifying rate.
.Lines often take up so much mental capacity, everything you say relates back to the show.
.You often times had to get used to the idea of someone helping you get dressed and undressed in quick changes.
.You’ve gotten at least 7 bruises from slipping and falling in show shoes.
.When you hear the statement “all that jazz”, you immediately switch to full Chicago mode.
.Even 5 or 6 years down the road, you still find weird/random scars on your feet from dance rehearsals.
.You relate every emotion to a musical theatre song..
.The day the director reveals the next upcoming show title is the most nerve racking, exciting, slow day of the school year.
Word of advice.. take in every second of those rehearsals.. no more how dreadful they seem at the time.. You will look back and miss it so much once they are over.
