It is very common for people to be very intrigued when you say that you are from San Diego. Even though San Diego is a great place to live, it can get old always being asked the same questions about how awesome and beautiful San Diego is. Although this can be the case, it really is a wonderful place to live and if you are from San Diego, there are definitely 10 things that you should know.

1. "Dude" is a part of your vocabulary

No matter who you are talking to, you call everyone "dude." It has reached the point that you don't even notice it, it just tends to happen. There are even times when you refer to your parents as "dude." Also, a general greeting can involve "Hey dude! What's up?"

2. Carne asada fries and California burritos are a part of your diet

There was never a time when you weren't eating Mexican food, but carne asada fries and a California burrito tend to be your go to options. Even when you leave San Diego and go elsewhere, you will always crave that California burrito...Mexican food from anywhere else will never compare.

3. You know all the beaches by their acronyms

You never actually call any of the beaches by their real names. Whether it be Imperial Beach, Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach or Coronado Beach, they are always IB, PB, OB and Nado. Also, you probably have a sticker on your car, computer, or water bottle with one of these beach acronyms on it.

4. 65 degrees and below is "freezing"

Let's be real, San Diegans do not know what cold is. As soon as you see that it is going to be anything less than 65 degrees you are in jeans, boots, a jacket, and possibly a beanie or scarf. Our weather is too perfect, so when it gets "cold," everyone freaks.

5. You say "The" before a freeway's name

No one ever says "get on 8 and go to 163 and then 5." No. You take "The 8 to The 163 to The 5." You also think it is extremely strange when people don't say "The" before the name of a freeway.

6. You have at least one surfer friend

Since the beaches are so close, there is always at least one person you know that surfs. Usually, you even have more than one surfer friend, but there is that one that is the stereotypical surfer dude.

7. The Del Mar Fair is a summer tradition

Every summer, the San Diego County Fair is a tradition. From the crazy fried food to all of the shopping and rides, enjoying the year's theme is always fun. Also, growing up you probably submitted some piece of art to the school competitions at the fair.

8. People watching at Comic-Con

Every summer, Comic-Con International comes to Downtown San Diego. You know two things about this: 1. avoid downtown or 2. try to park and go people watching. There is always one day that you choose to brave Downtown and see all of the cosplayers walking through the streets of Downtown San Diego.

9. Going to the beach was no big deal

Any beach you wanted to go to was only 20 minutes away. So during the summer, it was no big deal to just get a group together and head down to any one of the beaches along the coast.

10. You grew up visiting the seals at La Jolla

A family weekend would include a trip up to La Jolla to walk around, enjoy the beach and sneak a glance at the seals. It was always fun trying to sneak up and see if you can catch a picture of the seals sleeping.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.

15 Things That Happen On Your Birthday

Do you have a small get-together or throw a big bash?

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.
