Whether it be in the way a person acts, talks or thinks, there are definite signs that show somebody grew up with some sort of club or hobby. In my case, I grew up with a love for theater. I've been in theater productions for around half of my life, and I've met many people who share my passion. Naturally, this means I have a pretty good idea about who was in a company or enjoyed watching theater when they were younger.

I know these traits aren't shared by everyone, but at the very least, a good chunk of these signs give a pretty clear indication.

1. You knew who Lin-Manuel Miranda was before "Hamilton" was cool.

2. You know every lyric to every song in at least three Disney movies.

3. You have an odd fascination with 1950s America.

4. Jazz hands are almost second nature to you.

5. You know who Audra McDonald, Megan Hilty and Jonathan Groff are.

6. You've never seen any production of The Music Man, but you know the alto part of "Ya Got Trouble" by heart.

7. When you watch the movie "Grease", you count out "1-2-3-4" in your head, remembering the dance moves you had to do during "Greased Lightning".

8. You actually give a shit about the Tonys.

9. You call your loafers your "character shoes".

10. You still nerdily obsess over the newest Jeremy Jordan play with your old friends.

Of course, this may not apply to all theater kids, but I'm sure a good majority understand where I'm coming from.

Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
