1. You had the same classmates all 13 years
From the first day of Kindergarten to graduation, you went through it all together. In high school people often reflected on memories from elementary school and shared stories with each other.
2. You were used to goodbyes
People come and go, but you always make it a priority to keep in touch. Even though having a friend move away was hard, you knew that chances were, you would probably see each other again in the near future.
3. You often found yourself switching to another language halfway through a conversation without even realizing it.
Often times, the person you were talking with did not understand what you were saying.
4. It’s kind of a long story when people ask you where you and your family are from.
Many times your reply included, "well, do you want the long story or the condensed one?"
5. All your sports tournaments involved taking a plane
Five-hour plane ride? No problem!
6. Missing school to get your passport or visa renewed was no big deal.
7. Fire drills were no big deal when you had air raid and earthquake drills on a regular basis.
8. You can convert degrees from Celsius to Fahrenheit, and vice versa
9. You are a professional packer
Packing a whole years worth of clothes and belongings in one night was normal.
10. You wouldn't trade it for anything.
Making friends from all over the world, experiencing different cultures and making life-long friendships made all the hard parts of being a Third Culture Kid worth it.
