1. He only texts you at night

Ladies, the number one rule is that if he hits you up after midnight asking to “chill,” this is obviously a red flag because he clearly only wants to see you at night.

2. He only texts you during weekends

Nope, not even a “how is your week going?” If he only messages you when Friday hits, this should be a sign too. If us girls always have to initiate the conversation during the week, then this is a huge problem.

3. You never meet his family or friends

Does he have any siblings? Is he a mama’s boy? What is his cousin’s name? Oh come on I’m sure you met his best friend? No? Newsflash, if you never met any of his friends or family members then he pretty much doesn’t take this “relationship” seriously.

4. He never takes you out

You literally only hang out at his place or yours. If you're worried about trying to get this "relationship" public, this is where you get out now.

5. He won't talk about commitment

If you guys are spending a lot of time together and wonder why you guys aren’t moving on to the next level, this is a sign he’s not taking this seriously. You obviously want to know what the future holds for you guys and every time he doesn’t want to talk about the C-word, you get more and more frustrated.

6. He's always ignoring your texts or leaving you on read

If he is always ignoring your texts, opening your snapchats and leaving them on “read,” and declining your calls, this is an issue. You can’t just allow a guy to message you whenever he pleases, especially when it is 2AM.

7. He is never affectionate in public

If he seems distant in public or never wants to hold hands or kiss, this is obviously a red flag. Even around his friends, he should be showing you off! What’s wrong with holding hands?

8. You don't know anything about each other

It is important for the two of you to bond when you are alone together. Not just hooking up. If you two can’t have a simple conversation with each other without being awkward, and would rather have sex, this is a sign that maybe he is just not the right one for you. It’s important to have good communication skills with someone if you want to have a relationship.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
