10 Sidekicks I Want Beside Me For Senior Year

Rufus would be my adorably feisty sidekick I can fit in my pocket.

10 Sidekicks I Want Beside Me For Senior Year
Oh My Disney

Senior year is only getting started, and it's already so hectic. I have AP classes, college applications, dance classes, school clubs, college tours, theatre rehearsal, ACT cramming, an internship and I’m sure there’s something else I’m forgetting. Plus, I haven't fully given up on my somewhat decent social life yet. Just give it time. Between all the studying and attempting to be social, I could really use a hand. In fact, I should be studying for my AP Stat test tomorrow right now or replacing the batteries in my TI-84 Plus. A sidekick is like a personal assistant and best friend rolled into one. Here are just 10 sidekicks I’d love to have by my side throughout my final and most chaotic year of high school.

1. Rufus

Rufus is by far my favorite naked mole rat and adorably feisty sidekick. Just like Ron's dad, I'm allergic to dogs and cats; Rufus has no hair, making him the ideal pet. Would I keep him in a cage? No! I'd keep him in my pocket, so we'd always be together. Plus, I'd see if he could snag me my very own Kimunicator.

2. Morph

John Silver's old pet and gift to Jim Hawkins, Morph, is a precious "pink blob of space goo" from Treasure Planet. He's loyal, has the ability to shape-shift into any object and is a bit mischievous, which would always keep things interesting. Forget a pen? Need a hair tie? No problem. Morph's got your back.

3. Genie

Genie is the best, and the reason's pretty obvious. He has a wicked sense of humor and can grant any wish you can think of (except kill anyone, make anyone fall in love or bring anyone back from the dead, of course). Genie can go anywhere and do anything he wants because of Aladdin's final wish, but it'd be awesome if he chose to be my sidekick for a while.

4. Scrappy-Doo

One of the most famous Great Danes and by far the cutest is Scooby-Doo's nephew, Scrappy-Doo (the original cartoon version, not the creepy live-action CGI). He'd be a perfect body guard and a great partner in crime. You'd never have to go on a walk alone again or be lonely when falling asleep. You'd probably get to hang out with the rest of the gang, too. Plus, when you need a ride to the airport, there's no doubt Fred would offer you a ride in the Mystery Machine.

5. Jiminy Cricket

Sir Jiminy Cricket is a wise, old chap created by The Blue Fairy to be a conscience for Pinocchio. It'd be nice to have a personal voice of reason by my side. You're never too old to be led astray, and good, ol' Jiminy would make sure that wouldn't happen. Also, I feel like he'd be an excellent conversationalist and post-prom party host.

6. Cogsworth

Though he could get a bit annoying, Cogsworth would be a fantastic sidekick. With so many things to remember and a few too many unscheduled naps, Cogsworth would help make sure I'm always on time. His infallible promptness would be my most valuable asset, and his presence a much-needed and constant reminder of something I should be getting ready for or already at.

7. Minions

Gru's lovable yellow creations may have an indecipherable language and work for an evil villain, but there's no denying their loyalty or cuteness. When you send them on a task, they'll stop at nothing to make sure it gets done. They'd help me with my science labs and maybe my Spanish homework. We'd have a blast on my study breaks, and I'd definitely borrow their overalls.

8. Mushu

Mushu is a mighty dragon and (former) glorious guardian spirit of Mulan's family. He has a certain sidekick pizzazz and sarcastic flare that would never get old. Though I'd never get sick of his witty humor or his dishonoring of my cow, I mostly need his persistent alarm clock routine, since I sleep through mine every other day. His terrifying fire-breathing skills could also relight that midnight candle I've been burning all night long.

9. Jaq-Jaq and Gus-Gus

Cinderella had the best animal friends. Birds helped her get dressed in the morning, clean her room, and mice helped her finish her chores. Jaq and Gus were not only faithful friends and helpful housemates to Cinderella; they were also always willing to listen to her problems. We could all bond over our hatred of cats, and as an added bonus, I'd never have to hem my own dresses again.

10. Three Good Fairies

Finally, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather would be amazing companions. Though they may hover, both literally and figuratively, over me in an overprotective manner, they'd always be there for me. They could help me fall asleep quickly at night with a charm, keep me looking fresh and put-together, and would always offer their wise words of encouragement, whether I wanted them or not. Their charms would help me study faster and get to school in a wink, which I would never take for granted.

I know I'll only get more frenzied as my senior year goes on. And certainly, a sidekick would certainly help me keep everything under control, but I suppose my friends are my greatest sidekicks I could have. They're going through everything with me, always stay by my side and are loyal to the end. Though none of my friends can fly, breathe fire or be kept in my pocket, they will keep me sane through the whirlwind that is senior year.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer.
