We all know the feeling that one gets after finishing a binge session of a show that has taken over your entire life for days on end. There is this emptiness that is brought on by the fact that there will never be a next episode. Or when you finish a day-long marathon of your favorite movies, and there are no more for you to get lost in again. No matter how many plot lines you can think of that you wanted to happen, nothing will ever go beyond that last second of reel.
The next day, you might finish all your work and adulting early and find that you can get some Netflix time in before you should really go to bed so you can get up for work in the morning. You get all comfortable and settled in for one or two, maybe even three hours of TV entertainment when the Netflix browser pops up and you remember all over again that you don't have anything else to watch!
So, you might look in the "trending now" or the "most popular" lists, but nothing sounds good to you. Sure, there are lists upon lists of shows that are recommended to you based on previous things that you have watched, but that almost makes it worse.
It takes more time for a person to actually find a show or movie to watch on Netflix then it does to actually watch it.
Put an end to that vicious cycle and check out these movies that I have taken a chance on and actually liked.
1. "Keith"
This movie stars Jesse McCartney and Elisabeth Harnois. It is about Natalie Anderson and her perfect life being the popular girl at school and getting a tennis scholarship to go to an Ivy League school. At least, that's how it begins. It is tragic. No, it's a love story. Wait, maybe it's a finding yourself kind of movie. Well, I'll let you decide.
2. "Grey's Anatomy"
This show has been in the trending TV Shows list before, but it really is an addicting show. You get to follow the lives of surgeons through out their careers and lives until the very end. And I may or may not be talking about death when I say the very end. If you don't understand why people can be so interested in medical shows as the one above, then check this series out. Also, there are 11 seasons of this show on Netflix with a 12th to go. You won't run out for a while.3. "The Originals"
This show has werewolves, witches, vampires, oh my. If you are into the vampire supernatural shows, this one is pretty unique. While it is a show that stemmed from the well known TV series "Vampire Diaries," I can say that this show is much better in my opinion. There are not as many seasons in this TV Series, but it is entertaining.4. "A Little Bit of Heaven"
Don't let the cover photo on Netflix just fool you into thinking that this movie is just another romance. I originally turned this on for background noise but found myself laughing within five minutes of watching it. Now, it is one of my favorite movies to watch. It is as hilarious as it is sad and romantic.5. "Hart of Dixie"
OK, admittedly, this is a cheese comedy where big city girl meets small city life. Some of the accents, one in particular, are hard to get past. But if you do, you will find yourself sucked into this series in no time. It's kind of like a trainwreck ... you can't look away no matter how bad it gets.6. "Supernatural"
Snappy retorts, funny inappropriateness, overdone blood splatter, two brothers and a killer soundtrack are all included in this TV series. If you like all the folklore and gruesome truths behind the fairy tales that Disney spawned from, then this show is for you. Follow these two brothers in a fight against the supernatural bad guys.7. "A League of Their Own"
Do you like a little bit of history in your movies? How about strong female leads? Either way, this movie has both. It's also a lot of fun to see all the familiar actors doing what they do. This movie is all about the making of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL). It's funny, enlightening, sad, thrilling and overall entertaining.8. "Roman Holiday"
Step out of the norm and try watching a black and white movie. If you like Audrey Hepburn, you'll like this movie. It is a little more old fashioned — no sex, fist fights, flips or explosions. But all the same, it will be different than any other movie you'll watch nowadays. It's also fun to see how people used to act in movies.9. "North and South"
Escape to a whole new way of life and watch this mini series that aired on BBC in 2004. This movie is definitely for those who enjoy a good 19th century piece. There is gripping drama, romance, family values, industrialization, history and strikes all rolled into one series.10. "New Girl"
It's awkward, it's hilarious, it's sad. All in all, it's a roller coaster watching this series. Watch what happens when one girl moves into an apartment with three guys who have been friends for years. Now, I am not saying that all of these are winners in the critics eyes. I am not saying that these would ever be on a top list of things to watch. I am not even saying that you will like all of these movies and shows for sure. What I am saying is that these are movies and shows that I took a chance on and found myself hooked in until the very end, might just do the same for you.
Or if nothing else, this might end the endless time spent on trying to find something to watch next. Take a chance on them. You might be surprised.
