10 Shows to Binge Watch on Netflix

As a college student, especially during the summer I am constantly finding new shows on Netflix to watch. I can sit down for hours during the day and binge watch a TV show. Netflix has a great selection of different TV shows to watch, all with different plot lines to keep you entertained for days. For me, I have watched several different shows that I have really enjoyed, some that I have even watched several times.

1. One Tree Hill

This is by far one of my most favorite shows I have ever watched. It was super popular when it first came out, and still is as popular. One Tree Hill follows a group of teens at Tree hill High School through all the ups and downs life throws at them all the way through their adult years. Some people might be turned off by this school because it is a teen drama, but is has so many life lessons that I have and am leaning in my life, and several parts of the show are extremely relatable. If you haven’t watched this one yet, I highly suggest doing so, you wont regret it.

2. Grey’s Anatomy

This show speaks for itself. It has been on the air for several years now, and its 13th season is about to air. I did not start watching this show until my freshman year of college, but I definitely wish I would have started it sooner. It is a super entertaining medical drama that follows several doctors through their internships, then residencies, while of course dealing with the drama that is their day to day life.

3. Criminal Minds

If you like crime dramas, and a show that is going to keep you on your toes for the whole 45 minutes, then you should definitely watch criminal minds. It follows the FBI BAU (behavioral analysis unit) as they travel around the country investigating all sorts of criminal cases.

4. Once Upon A Time

If you’re a fan of Disney then this is definitely a show for you. It brings all of the most famous Disney characters to life. The evil queen casts a curse on the land, bringing all the characters to a town called Storybrook in Maine. With this curse, all the characters including snow white, prince charming, little red riding hood, belle, and many others to forget who they are truly are. How does the curse get lifted? Well only the savior can fix that one.

5. Gilmore Girls

Gilmore girls is a classic show that is about a single mother and her daughter. It deals with all sorts of life lessons of growing up, for the both of them. It is a super sweet show that I suggest everyone to watch.

6. Vampire Diaries

Vampire diaries is bases off a book series about a young girl that meets a mysterious guy, who she cant seem to get her mind off of. After several events, she finds out he is a vampire, which takes them on a journey of crazy conflicts, and danger. If you are into scifi like shows, but also romance shows, then you should definitely watch this one.

7. Gossip Girl

Gossip girl here, to tell you all about the life’s of the upper east siders. This show follows a group of rick teens that live on the upper east side in New York, with an anonymous website documenting every part of their lives. There is no telling what sort of drama will unfold and secrets that will come out.

8. LOST

LOST is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. I started watching this show when it first aired, and I’ve been hooked on its story line every since. It follows a group of people whos plane crashes on an island, that cannot be detected. After a few days on the island, weird things begin to happen, people disappear, and they begin to wonder if they are really the only ones on the island, and if they will ever be rescued.

9. How I Met Your Mother

This is about a father who tells his two children the story about how the met their mother. It follows all the events that happen in his life that led him to the moment that he met their mother. I cried, I laughed, I cried again. This show has 10 seasons, and I finished them in a month. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, and it is one that I would definitely watch again.

10. Revenge

When a mysterious young lady buys a home in the Hamptons, everyone wonders who she is and why she is there. But she knows why she is there. Everyone that lives in the Hamptons has done her family wrong in some way, and she is out to get revenge for all the wrongs.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
