I don't know about you, but when I turn on Netflix half of the time I end up getting frustrated that what I want to actually watch isn't there. Isn't Netflix supposed to be the new Blockbuster? Well, it certainly doesn't live up to my expectations half of the time. I'm not saying Netflix would be perfect with the additions of these shows/movies listed below, but they would be a great start to better, more well-rounded Netflix.
1. "Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory"
And no, I don’t mean the one with Johnny Depp. There are some movies in life that are great and don’t need sequels or to be re-done, and even though that happened--and was miserable may I add--"Willy Wonka" is an all-time classic. Lately, the big hype has been about the Powerball lottery tickets, and that was what Wonka’s Golden Ticket meant to Charlie. This movie will always be an entertaining one and one that has a message everyone should learn. Money doesn’t equal happiness, even if you make mistakes, keeping your promises matter more. And don’t forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he ever wanted…he lived happily ever after.
2. "Providence"
3. "Return to Oz"
Alright, so we all know the movie that launched Judy Garland’s career: "The Wizard Of Oz." As I said previously, classics shouldn’t have sequels, and as this one was chaotic and just down right strange, it was also intriguing. Dorothy ends up in Oz yet again, but this time by a river instead of a tornado. Where’s Toto you might ask? Well, Toto is back in Kansas, but somehow her chicken Billina comes along. Dorothy runs into some new friends, but also a witch that is more terrifying than the Wicked Witch of The West. Walt Disney definitely made this sequel a dark one.
4. "John Tucker Must Die"
When the school’s star basketball player is dating three different girls and they all find out…the outcome will never be a pretty sight to see. When the girls ponder over the best way to get their revenge they come up with the only solution possible…to make him un-dateable. From giving him fake herpes, to sneaking estrogen pills into his workout drinks, to making him wear a thong, these girls were the ultimate goddesses for how to destroy a guy.
5. "Summerland"
I’m currently binge-watching this series on YouTube and would love for Netflix to make my life easier and add it to their selection of shows. "Summerland" is about two parents who die and leave their three kids to live with their aunt out in California. Her home is anywhere from a functional family as she lives with her ex-boyfriend and two best friends. "Summerland" has a ton of drama and different story lines for each character that will appeal to all ages.
6. "The Amanda Show"
We all miss Amanda Bynes, right? Back in the day, she had her own comedy show on Nickelodeon. Sure, looking back the acting wasn’t stellar, but it had funny plots from Moody’s Point, Totally Kyle, and a Hillbilly Moment. This show would definitely help Netflix's comedy section.
7. "The West Wing"
The West Wing is about Jed the new U.S. President and his white house staff. This show displays the hardships of being in office and the day to day struggles of the president and his office staff; along with political battles.
8. "Dance Moms"
I know, this show is still going on, but for those of us who miss the originals: Brooke, Paige, and Chloe, we would love to see the old seasons come to Netflix. Dance Moms is a reality show that will pull you in with each bit of the mom’s bickering to Abby’s extreme favoritism.
9. "Life With Derek"
Life With Derek was a Canadian based show that aired on Disney Channel. It was about a newly blended family in which the two eldest teens dispised each other. It’s basically The Brady Bunch gone wild. The last season or two of Life With Derek never aired on Disney Channel, but did air in Canada; so Netflix let’s bring this show in, so we can all watch how it ended!
10. "Juno"
"Juno" is about a 16-year-old girl who ends up getting pregnant by her best friend, who also happens to be the most awkward kid on the planet. She finds herself sitting in an abortion clinic, but only to discover that she can't go through with the abortion, and decides to put the baby up for adoption instead. This movie was pretty controversial when it premiered, but is definitely worth watching and bringing to Netflix!
