When you start applying to colleges, you're usually given three options as to the climate around schools: urban, suburban, or rural. But what if your school falls into the wonderfully unique category of being not urban, yet so close to a major city that it's easily accesible anytime?

1. Your city, and all of the activities it provides, is SO CLOSE.

Museums, concerts, random tourist attractions, shopping, restaurants--all a short ride away.

2. Because it's *so close*, you probably go way more than you should.

It becomes really easy to justify a trip to the city, whether it be a full-blown adventure or just a quick errand to a favorite store.

3. If you don't have a car, transportation fees definitely add up.

Whether it's a train, bus, or Uber, transportation in and out of the city can easily be the most expensive part.

4. But even if you DO have a car, gas and parking are just as expensive. (And let's not forget about traffic.)

Depending on what city you're traveling to, you can spend longer in traffic than you will at your actual destination.

5. Your instagram becomes fire while you're at school.

It's so easy to find instagram-able spots that you almost can't help yourself.

6. Sometimes you simply make the trip to get food that isn't from the dining hall.

Even just a fast food joint is easier found in a major city than a college town sometimes.

7. People that don't go to your school sometimes just assume you go to school in a city because you're there so much.

When you're constantly posting or tagging your location as a city, people will forget you don't actually go to school there.

8. Sometimes you wish you went to school IN the city.

When walking around on a casual day, it's hard not to wonder what it would be like to be there all the time.

9. But then you remember that you get the best of both worlds--an actual campus and access to everything the city has to offer.

You get the awesome feeling of having an actual college campus, but still have access to all the best parts of the city without the commitment.

10. Internships are a huge thing at your school.

It's a huge draw for people when applying to entertain the idea of interning in a major city.

11. You wouldn't trade this unique experience for anything.

Being young and going into a city a lot is definitely a life experience.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
