Here are some of the top ten moments when Jesus was super salty to his disciples as well as to others. In the writings of Mark, there is a great number of stories told, but the ones below most relate to today's world of salty people. There are no better moments than these with Jesus as he becomes upset, is sarcastic, or just does not seem too nice to the masses as one would expect from Jesus. One time he cursed a tree and there were a lot of times when his disciples could not understand him which made him become sassy.
1. "You have eyes, can you not see?"
Mark 8:17
After he had given people thousands of bread to eat from simply one loaf of bread Jesus became sassy with his disciples for worrying about the boat only having one piece of bread left on it for all of them. "Knowing this, he said to them, 'Why are you talking about having no bread? Have you no inkling yet? Do you still not understand? Are your minds closed? You have eyes: can you not see? You have ears: can you not hear? Have you forgotten?'"
2. When the Disciples did not "get" him
Mark 4:13
"He went on: 'Do you not understand this parable? How then are you to understand any parable?'"
3. Calling the Pharisees hypocrites
Mark 7:5
After the Pharisees questioned Jesus about allowing his men to eat with dirty hands, Jesus responded quickly with, "How right Isaiah was when he prophesied about you hypocrites in these words: 'This people pays me lip-service, but their heart is far from me: they worship me in vain, for they teach as doctrines the commandments of men.' You neglect the commandments of God, in order to maintain the tradition of men."
4. "Are you as dull as the rest?"
Mark 7:18
After the parables of the last point, Jesus was asked by his disciples the meaning of his words. Jesus responded, "Are you as dull as the rest?"
5. Jesus told people not to talk about him but he also wanted more believers
Mark 1:44
After Jesus had cured leprosy of a man, he warned the man, "See that you tell nobody, but go and show yourself to the priest..." So, he wants to start a religion basically, but he does not want people to know about his miracles.
6. Proves a point by making a paralyzed man walk
Mark 2:8
After Jesus told a paralyzed man he was forgiven of sin, others questioned how a man could forgive sin as if he was God. So Jesus responded by saying, "Why do you harbor such thoughts? Is it easier to say to this paralyzed man, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Stand up, take your bed, and walk?'" then he turned to the paralyzed man and stated, "'I say to you, stand up, take your bed, and go home' and he got up and at once took his bed and went out in full view of them all..."
7. "If you have ears to hear then hear"
Mark 4:21
"He said to them, 'Is a lamp brought in to be put under the measuring bowl or under the bed? No, it is put on the lamp stand. Nothing is hidden except to be disclosed, and nothing concealed except to be brought into the open. If you have ears to hear then hear.'"
8. Screams and curses a random tree
Mark 11:12
"On the following day, as they left Bethany, he [Jesus] felt hungry, and, noticing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. But when he reached it he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season for figs. He said to the tree 'May no one ever again eat fruit from you!' And his disciples were listening."
9. Yells at random people after cursing a tree
Mark 11:15
"He [Jesus] went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold there. He upset the tables of the money-changers and the seats of the dealers in pigeons; and he would not allow anyone to carry goods through the court.....You have made it [the house of God] a robbers cave"
10. He does not want everyone in heaven
Mark 4:10
"When Jesus was alone with the Twelve and his other companions they questioned him about the parable. He answered, 'To you the secret of the kingdom of God has been given; but to those who are outside, everything comes by way of parables, so that (as scripture says) they may look and look, but see nothing; they may listen and listen but understand nothing; otherwise they might turn to God and be forgiven.'"
So Jesus is essentially saying that he has to be complex in his speech so that everyone doesn't come to heaven?
