10 Resolutions To Have For The New Year
Dunking With Wolves

"New year, new me." How many times do you hear people say this around this time of year? Does anything ever really change about them? This time should be used to reflect on the person you have been for the past year. If you are not happy with this person, the only one who can make a difference is YOU. Don't let the cliche of resolutions stop you from making a list for 2017. It is never to late to start improving yourself. If you can't think of anything, here is a list of resolutions that can apply to many....

1. Get in shape

Every year, this is always at the top of the list. Working out and living a healthy lifestyle not only makes you feel better about yourself, it gives you more energy and puts you in an all around better mood. Start making time in your schedule for the gym or physical activity.

2. Don't procrastinate

Stop putting things off until the last minute. Get ahead of your school schedule. Start assignments that aren't do for a few weeks if you have the opportunity to do so. I know it is easier said than done, but cramming leads to stress and nobody enjoys being stressed out.

3. Shake off the little things

Stop letting the little things bother you. Learn when to walk away from a bad situation or person. Trying to argue and prove your point is not going to get you anywhere, especially when it is with someone who never sees eye to eye with you.

4. Be more adventurous

Stop being scared to try new things. Go out with your friends, take chances, and always be down for a new adventure.

5. Travel

Travel to a place you have always wanted to go. Experience a new culture and meet new people.

6. Stop eating fast food

Although it is always convenient, and no matter what other people say tastes pretty damn good sometimes, try cutting fast food out of your diet. It is okay to indulge in Taco Bell every once in a while, but try to limit yourself.

7. Sleep more

Stop staying up until 4 o'clock in the morning watching Shameless on Netflix, or catching up on your homework because you procrastinated all night. Regulate your sleep schedule and I promise you will automatically start feeling more energetic and better about yourself.

8. Drink less caffeine

I know it is difficult to make through the day without a cup of coffee in the morning, however limit yourself to just one or two a day. Caffeine in large intakes, although effective, is obviously not good for your body.

9. Be happy

Stop trying to please everyone but yourself. Work on learning to love yourself, and stop letting toxic people ruin you. Always remember, you don't need anyone who doesn't need you.

10. Worry less

Everything will work out. Whether it is with your personal life, school work, or anything else. Stop worrying and let life just take its course.

I know some of these resolutions may be easier said than done, but try your best and start the new year off on a good note.

May 2017 bring you happiness and new adventures!

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Obsessive Thoughts Keep My Brain Stuck On A Loop And Me Stuck On My Couch

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

I don't know if it is related to my anxiety, perfectionism or depression. I don't know why it happens. It's frustrating, it's painful and it stops me from functioning.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.
