Top 10 Easy New Year's Resolutions For 2017

Resolution #1: Don't make unlikely fitness goals.

So for some reason everyone wants to get fit at the start of the year. Well, that's not a real goal for most people. Most people will give up after the first 3 days and will find their way back to on couch with chips and dip telling themselves they will start again next week. Therefore, the obvious solution is to simply not set goals you won't accomplish!

Resolution #2: Dress better.

The days of it being socially acceptable to leave the house in old sweats, slippers, and baggy sweatshirts need to be over with. This year, start dressing like you didn’t wake up 15 minutes before you needed to be somewhere. Spend the money you'll save from not paying for a gym membership on clothes that show you care a little bit more.

Resolution #3: Keep a daily planner.

Buy a planner and keep it updated with tasks, goals, assignments, and appointments if you don’t already. This is the easiest way to stay on top of things and organized. If you know exactly what you need to do, it will be easier complete things and not forget what needs to be done.

Resolution #4: Be nicer to people... sometimes.

It can be a difficult to stay calm, cool, and collected when dealing with rudeness or idiocy, but sometimes being the bigger person pays off. You might feel good about yourself and it will give you the perfect excuse to be sarcastic in the future since you let them “win” that one time.

Resolution #5: Eat less fast food/junk food.

Many of us are busy people, and our meal choices reflect that. Try meal prepping the weekend before instead of grabbing that Double Whopper at Burger King the very last minute. Your body will thank you in the summer.

Resolution #6: Find an exercise you don't hate doing.

Most of us give up on that gym fitness goal after the first week of the year. That doesn’t have to totally be the case. Find something that you have fun doing so you aren’t a total couch potato. Even if it’s just something as simple as taking the stairs instead of the elevator every day (which I’m very guilty of not doing! Oops!) Find what you like best and stick with it.

Resolution #7: Try to not watch every good show on Netflix before summer.

Many shows on TV take a long break in the summer, which makes summer time perfect for watching Netflix. But, if you've already watched every good show during the school year, then what happens? Read a book? Ha ha, funny!

Resolution #8: Do a few homework assignments on time.

If you do a few homework assignments on time for each class, then you'll feel a little bit better about yourself come the end of the term when procrastination hits.

Resolution #9: Don't be so hard on yourself.

Maybe you got a C on a test that you thought you aced. Maybe you got stood up. Maybe you lost your keys. Life is tough, and we all make mistakes and have bad days. Try to keep calm, find a better solution for next time, and learn from what you’ve done wrong.

Resolution #10: Take control of your future.

While life can be about trying new things, taking risks, and having fun, you still need to focus on your goals and your life. Use 2017 to put yourself in a place to succeed and make your life the best it can be.

Christmas Tree

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
