10 Relaxing Spots on the University of Arizona Campus

The University of Arizona (UA) is home to thousands of students who enjoy its amazing amenities daily.

I have created a list of 10 spots that are great places to sit and relax, bask in the Arizona sun, or study before an exam. Some of these places are widely known and others you may walk by everyday and never actually take the time to stop, take a seat, and look around and the beauty this campus holds!

1. Highland Bowl.

The Highland Bowl is a circular formation located near Highland Avenue. It is a giant grass circle with seats around the perimeter of it. This is a great place to meet with friends, or relax alone.

2. Scented Leaf Tea House and Lounge.

The Scented Leaf is located on University Boulevard, right off of the UA campus. This tea house is an amazing place to relax and get down to business or socialize with friends. Not to mention it has free wifi and a never ending selection of delicious teas and snacks. Take a peek into this zen little slice of heaven the UA offers.

3. UA Main Library.

The library is home to midnight-studiers and exhausted test-takers, but it can also be a great place to relax and get your work done for the day. In the library there are several different floors with desks, chairs and computers, all the amenities to take a break and focus on things you need to get done.

4. Benches next to the mall.

This row of benches is a great place to rest if you are a few minutes early for class. You can watch all of the excitement going on in the heart of campus, but still have enough silence to lean back and enjoy the sun.

5. Behind Modern Languages.

This hidden gem is a seating area that is located behind the Modern Languages building. If I can tell you anything about this spot, it is that it is one of the quietest, non-busy areas on the entire campus. This oasis is full of sunshine, peace, and warmth!

6. ILC.

Or, in other words known as the Integrated Learning Center. This area is a collection of class rooms that is actually a floor lower than the rest of the main campus. This area has tons of benches, not to mention has a vending machine with drinks and snacks! This might not be the first place one would think to go to relax but it could become your new favorite!

7. Lounge in the Union.

This seating area is located in the Student Union Memorial Center! It has many tables with power outlets, allowing you to eat and enjoy your food as well as work on homework, or watch a Netflix episode at the same time!

8. Big Comfy Chairs in Bookstore.

Located just inside the doors of the bookstore are eight large sitting chairs for anyone to take a seat in and take a moment to relax. There is also a Starbucks inside of the bookstore, so, grab a drink and take a seat!

9. Sitting Area Underneath the Union.

Below the Union and next to Cellar Bistro is this relaxing area with tables. Here you can grab a meal and enjoy the cool air-conditioning of this covered structure.

10. The UA Mall Itself!

Every University of Arizona Student knows what the "Mall" is. Our large strip of grass that reaches almost the entire length of our campus provides not only a beautiful scenic view, but also a space almost anywhere for its students to take a seat and enjoy its comfort.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
