It is no secret that the hype for avocados has continued into the new year. We love them. You can eat them, drink them and use them for cosmetic purposes. So if you love your avocados but may be looking for a new way to eat, drink or use them, here are a few examples:

1. Avocado Toast.

I'm sure you have seen this infamous toast all over your social media. Mash up your avocados with a dash of salt and pepper and smear it on whole grain toast with a egg and you have yourself a delicious breakfast under 250 calories.

2. Avocado Mango Smoothie.

Recharge with this delicious mixture that is packed full with vitamins from these two delicious fruits.

3. Avocado Chicken/Egg Salad.

Everybody loves a yummy bowl of chicken or egg salad, it's just the calories that come with it that are a bit distasteful. Next time you go to make this treat, substitute a mash up avocado for the mayonnaise and cut more than half the calories out!

4. Cucumber, Tomato & Avocado Salad.

Throw in a dash of lemon juice, salt & pepper and a little bit of olive oil and you have a salad that is guaranteed to fill you up without filling you with calories!

5. Avocado, Honey & Lemon Face Mask.

Avocados aren't just for your tummy, you can also use them on your skin! This mask is perfect for that stubborn acne that keeps popping up. Your skin will soak up the vitamins from the avocado, the lemon helps dry up the oils in your skin and the honey will soothe and reduce the redness.

6. Avocado & Green Tea Popsicles.

Avocados can also be a desert treat! There isn't much to these popsicles other than some coconut milk, avocados and matcha powder thrown together and frozen to make delicious treats that satisfy that sweet tooth.

7. Corn & Avocado Soup.

Spice up the night with the creamy soup, packed with tons of vitamins and also a hint of spice to fire up your tastebuds.

8. Avocado Hummus.

Hummus and avocados join to make the ultimate snack. Smear this on a cracker or a slice of toast, either way your mouth is bound to be faced with a delicious taste.

9. Avocado & Egg Hair Mask.

Nowadays we are using a number of hair tools that leave our ends looked dry and broken. This simple and easy hair mask will save your ends by replenishing them with the moisture they are needing. And it only takes 5 minutes to make and about 30 minutes in your hair to work!

10. Creamy Avocado & Spinach Pasta.

There is no better way to end a long day than with a big bowl of warm pasta, well until you realize how many calories you are eating! Cut out the calories by substituting the pasta for zucchini pasta and the cheesy cream sauce for a avocado cream sauce.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
