10 Reasons Why You're Excited For School To Start

With August quickly approaching, many begin to make their plans for heading home, moving in, deciding to rush, and figuring out which textbooks you're actually going to need. Summer has been great filled with vacations and beach play, but it's about this time when people start to realize it's time to head back to reality. While summer always seems too short, you eventually get to a point where the new school year doesn't sound too bad either. Here are 10 reasons why you're secretly excited for school to start.

1. Beginning college.

If you just graduated from high school, congratulations and get ready. College is the most amazing, fun, hard, exhausting, and crazy experience ever. Make the most of your freshman year and do any and everything you can. I can't stress enough to get involved, go to class, and of course have some fun.

2. Fall recruitment 2015.

Whether you're a freshman going through recruitment for the first time or already an active member of Greek life, recruitment is something to look forward to for everyone. Planning outfits, meeting new girls, and of course bid day are all in store. Oh, and don't forget all the sisterly bonding that will quickly ensue.

3. Football season.

Fall is easily the best time of year in school simply because of football season. Nothing beats getting ready with your best friend every other Friday and heading to the game completely decked out in school colors to cheer on your team (and look at all the eye-candy). And if you beat your rival school that season? Well. that's just icing on the cake.

4. Seeing all your college friends.

There is something so different now that you're in college between your friends back from high school and the vast amount of people you have met in college. It's as though finding valuable conversation to have with people from high school always leads back to those days and let's be frank, that was so 2014. It's time to see all those new and shiny college faces again so that you have things to discuss about your school, your classes, and all the summer gossip you've missed out on.

5. Moving into your new home.

You may be a freshman moving into the dorms, a sorority woman moving into her new sorority house, or just another undergrad moving once again. Wherever you're headed, a new adventure is about to begin. Decorating your new room, bonding with your new roommate, and finalizing the chore list for everyone are all fun and exciting parts about moving. Plus, what a relief to be out of your parents' house.

6. Homecoming week.

Though homecoming often doesn't occur right when school starts, it's still something people look forward to as soon as they're back on campus. The homecoming football, all the week's events, and don't forget the amazing performer your school is sure to bring you.

7. New classes.

The fresh start of a new semester is always a relief, especially to those who may or may not have put a ton of focus into their grades. No matter how much a person claims to hate school, there's always a small bit of excitement going into a new class and seeing who you share that class with, what the grading scale looks like, and how awesome or aggravating your new professor is.

8. Financial aid refund.

I think it's safe to say that if you don't use up all your financial aid for the semester, you're religiously checking your mail box and bank account for that refund money. I mean, who wouldn't be loving a few hundred back just because?

9. Being back in your college town.

After spending a year or two. or three. in your college town, you've come to call it home. You know all the best restaurants, party spots, and have even taken the time to memorize the street names. College may be why you came, but the people and the town have urged you to stay. Whether you grew up there or are coming from out of state, your college town is just that, yours. You can't wait to be back home to catch up with a friend at your favorite local coffee shop (mine happens to the be The Jungle).

10. Lastly -- graduation.

If you're lucky enough to graduate this fall or spring semester, at this point you're jumping with joy. With all the senior events to come your way and the plethora of graduation gifts you're about to receive, growing up and venturing into the real world seems better than ever. Good luck and congrats, you're officially about to be an adult.

With summer dwindling down to an end, school is just around the corner. Get ready for another fantastic year of school, social events, and just plain fun.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
