10 Reasons You Should Go Skydiving
Skydive Palatka 2018

Recently I got the opportunity to go skydiving with a group of friends. I decided to go, and I am so glad I did. It was absolutely one of the best experiences of my life, and I cannot wait to go again. If you have been debating whether or not to go skydiving, or are the type of person who has sworn they would never do it, then here are a few reasons to convince you to get up and do it.

1. It is actually quite safe.

While we were waiting for our jump one of the experienced jumpers came over and talked to us. He explained that it was more likely that we would die in a car accident than during a tandem jump.

2. It will give you a great story to tell.

Now when you are on a date, and they ask you to tell them something interesting about yourself, you can say you jumped out of plane. It is much more interesting than "Ummm, ummm, I don't know, I like dogs", which is a very typical and lame response.

3. It will make you 10% cooler.

It is statistically proven that skydiving makes you at least 10% cooler. You become 5% cooler upon putting on the gear, and then once you make the jump you secure the other 5%. According to the experienced jumper approximately 1% of people have gone skydiving, so not many people will be as cool as you.

4. There are worse ways to spend your day.

You could be at the DMV or studying, but instead you are going 2 and half miles in the air and jumping.

5. You don't get the roller coaster feeling.

When you jump out you don't get that weird feeling in your stomach like you do when going down a big drop on a roller coaster. It mostly just feels like a big fan is blowing up on your face.

6. Your so high up that height doesn't matter.

I'm afraid of heights so it would see that the height would really bother me, but you are so high up that height doesn't really even factor into your fears.

7. You shouldn't live your life in fear.

Living your life in fear is no fun. It keeps you from doing the greatest things, so don't let fear of heights or planes or whatever stop you.

8. You will get the most incredible view.

Once the parachute deploys you slow down and get a better chance to look around. You are still quite high, so you get a few minutes to look around at how beautiful everything is.

9. It will be the best experience of your life.

The feeling is indescribable, and you spend the whole day thinking "Wow, I just did that". Not many people get to say they have taken off more times than they have landed in an airplane.

10. The second jump is better than the first.

I haven't gotten to do a second jump yet, but according to the experienced jumper, and my friend that has jumped twice--the second time is better. You know what is going to happen, and your senses are not on overdrive, so you get a chance to look around and really experience what is happening.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
