We all know that first feeling of your Netflix experience. You're starting a new show and the first few episodes pass... next thing you know you're on season three on day three. You're overcome with the feeling of an obsession. You have found your favorite show. This was me when I discovered "One Tree Hill" a few years ago. I instantly fell in love with the greatest television series ever created. I think most of us who have watched this show feel the same way, so I decided to highlight 10 reasons we love "One Tree Hill":
1. These beautiful men.
Let's go ahead and get this out of the way. We are normal humans who live in a normal world with normal guys. We don't actually get to hang out, be friends, or date men who look like this. They are literally from another planet. Great characters and great to look at.
2. Nathan and Haley.
*Sigh.* The love between Nathan and Haley literally could move mountains, it's so hard to put this relationship into words. They were always there for each other through the good, great, bad and ugly. They never gave up no matter what went wrong. They inspired their friends to always follow their hearts and never give up on finding love. They were best friends. They created beautiful children together and they have one of the most romantic love stories a TV series has ever created. We all want to be Nathan and Haley.
3. Peyton's strength.
Peyton is one character that my feelings towards went up and down a lot, but the poor girl went through so much in her young life on One Tree Hill and nothing broke her. She stayed strong throughout it all and it showed through her beautiful artwork, as well. It's hard not to love her.
4. Brooke and Peyton's friendship.
These two are a prime example of true friendship. From being in a nasty love triangle, running for their lives from Peyton's stalker fake brother, the girls truly exemplify the power of friendship. They went through everything together and as hard, sad, and scary as it got for them, forgiveness always won in the end.
5. The theme song.
If you didn't know Gavin DeGraw's song, "I Don't Want to Be" before this show, you certainly do now. One view of Lucas Scott in a hoodie dribbling his basketball and you're belting out the lyrics. Every time you hear it after the show, OTH flashes through your head. I know, me too.
6. The River Court.
Remember when Lucas and Nathan found out who each other were and the whole school showed up to witness this one-on-one game of intensity and hostility? It was awesome. The cast spent so much time here at this court. So many memories were made at this court. They finished their senior year on this court. All the scrimmages and late night talks.
7. Jamie Scott.
Who could forget the cutest kid in the world? This little boy was OTH's pride and joy. He had the biggest heart and wanted to be everyone's friend and to please everybody. Too bad we couldn't see what he turned out to look like in their series finale, eh?
8. Basketball.
The main reason for the show: basketball. The start of the Scott Brother's Domination. Coach Whitey. Haley becoming a cheerleader. Dan Scott (barf). Nathan's reason for his almost insanity and bad depression. Basketball games at Tree Hill High were the heartbeats of OTH.
9. Brooke Davis.
Who doesn't love this hot mess of a woman? Brooke Davis was the character who made a complete 360. She grew up so much and at the end, finally found herself, found love and got her dream of having children. We will always love Julian for that. She was my most favorite character. I felt like we were best friends. She had her heart broken five hundred times by men and friends and still came out on top. She is the most beautiful woman in the world and I might be biased, but she was by far the best character with one of the greatest stories that I ever witnessed.
10. "One Tree Hill" is real.
The main reason I have always told people why I love "One Tree Hill" so much is for how real it is. Sure, "Gossip Girl" is a great show, but how many of us are 15-years-old wearing Chanel and going to bars in East Side Manhattan? All of "One Tree Hill"'s episodes included inspirational quotes that anyone in this world can relate to. Everything that happens in the show, love, rebellion, car accidents, murder, death, heart break, backstabbing, lies, truths, sports, hatred, friendship, careers, fear, happiness, marriage, children, messed up relationships and fights with our parents, hardships, being broke, being rich, losing people, gaining people... everything that One Tree Hill has to offer is so realistic and the show does a great job of exhibiting every day life and all our trials and errors. I love "One Tree Hill". I love what it stands for. I love what each of the character's go through. I love where the characters come from. I know that all of "One Tree Hill"'s true fans feel the same exact way that I do.
By far the best show I have ever watched and I could do it all over again a million times.
