Being a big sister has been the best thing that has ever happened to me and it has also been the biggest blessing. Here are 10 reasons why having a little sister is such a blessing.

1. You always have a dance partner, no matter what time or day.

You can bust up in your sister's room blasting music and it will become the biggest dance party.

2. You have someone to rant to, even if she doesn't want to listen.

She knows what Jane did to you and if you don't like Jane, she won't like Jane.

3. There is never a dull moment.

This reason just explains itself. When y'all get together, you never know what's going to happen. Plus the volume goes way up.

4. You have someone to share clothes with... Even if she steals them.

Somehow all my clothes end up in her closet because she decides to wear my clothes more than she does her's. But, then again I steal her clothes too.

5. You always have someone to sing in the car with.

No matter what, there is always happens to be a car concert when you both get in the car.

6. No matter if you run out of Bath and Body, you know she has some.

This goes for soaps, lotion, body spray, candles, and etc. because somehow she always has more than you do.

7. She's always there to be a shoulder to cry on.

When life just gets you down and you just feel like crying, here she comes with the Notebook and candy. You can always count of her to be your shoulder.

8. She's someone who can give you advice and vise versa.

You know the person to go to when you need advice and she knows the right person too.

9. Dance parties always happen.... again...

Dance parties are must. She's your Cristina Yang and you are her Meredith Grey... Dancing it out is a must.

10. When she came along, you never knew you could care or love someone like you love your little sister.

The world changed when she came into your life. It didn't change for the worse but, for the better. You never knew that you could end up loving a little baby as much as you love her. She will be your forever best friend.

Ten Truths Every Honors Student Knows
Photo by Poodar Chu on Unsplash

One of the main reasons I came to Salem State was I was offered a spot in the honors program. While it offered many benefits, scholarships and priority registration to name a few, what drew me in was the strong sense of community and close knit friendships many found. I am glad to say that that I did find these things, and so much more. I found a home made up of some of the most brilliant and most unique people I have ever met. Being in an honors program creates a college experience unlike any other and creates some universal truths that really only an honors student can fully understand.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?
