7 Reasons Why You Should Watch Game Of Thrones
Game of Thrones Wiki

With the season 6 finale blowing the minds of fans everywhere, now is as great a time as ever for the non-believers to binge themselves into the world of Game of Thrones. Here are seven reasons why you should watch Game of Thrones. WARNING: side effects may include screaming, crying, hatred for a particular character, deaths of your favorite characters and having any hope you have being taken away.

1. The characters

The characters are what first draw us in when we watch a show. Rather it is for the beautiful characters, the comic relief, or the badasses, these characters draw us in. Game of Thrones is not slack on any of these fronts. Game of Thrones has dynamic characters with not just one archetype, but multiple. They make you feel as though they are real people and you want to know more about them.

2. The story

The story of Game of Thrones feels like less of a story and more of the accounts of the lives of different characters who are somehow connected. A general season of Game of Thrones could have at least five or six different plot lines going at once, all packed in a ten episode season. That being said, the story never feels rushed, and Game of Thrones takes a nice pace as is toys with your emotions.

3. It's unpredictable

I've sat down to watch one of my favorite shows and at times find myself guessing how the season may end (and being correct). Despite my inner thoughts of how great of a detective I am, I also find it disappointing. That being said, I can't predict an episode of Game of Thrones, let alone a season. The plot twists are numerous, and when you think you know what will happen, the show will laugh at you and leave you feeling cold and alone.

4. Deaths

You can't talk about Game of Thrones without talking about deaths. That moment Dumbledore died in Harry Potter left us all with wet eyes and heavy hearts. When Snape died, we felt like J.K. Rowling herself was torturing us. Well, prepare yourself. I've felt a heavy heart every season of Game of Thrones. It may not be a sad lifetime movie, but you'll still need a box of tissues.

5. The big three of Game of Thrones

I know I already mentions characters, but these three characters are in a different weight class all together. They bring so much to the show that thousands of viewers can relate to. First is the bastard of Winterfell Jon Snow. Known as the illegitimate son of Ned Stark, he wasn't quite the favorite of the Stark children, but it didn't stop him from being our favorite. Next is Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, First of Her Name, the Unburt, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons. A mouth full, I know, but when she says her full title, you know that something amazing is bound to happen. (Plus, she has three dragons...dragons!) Last but not least, the most sarcastic and clever character in Game of Thrones is Tyrion the Imp Lannister. Although a dwarf hated by a good amount of characters including members of his own family, he is without a doubt one of the most interesting characters in Game of Thrones.

6. The catchphrases

The catchphrases in this show are great and not at all cheesy. When you hear "winter is coming", "a Lannister always repays his debts", "what is dead may never die," or my favorite "Valar Morghulis (All men must die) Valar Dohaeris (All men must serve)," I promise you'll feel either immense love or hate, depending on the character who says it.

7. Fan-friends

Like most television shows, it is great to watch with friends, and Game of Thrones fan-friends are no exception. Being able to discuss recent episodes and favorite characters is great, but nothing beats creating fan-friends. The moment when you get one of your friends to start watching Game of Thrones and they come to you with updates on their progress (most likely teary eyed and heartbroken because one of their favorite characters died, and you just laugh and respond "just wait," confirming vague hints that maybe there is hope...or maybe it is only downhill from here) can't be beat.

So, if you enjoy action, intense story, drama, friends, comedy, powerful women, dragons, plot twists, assassins and catch phrases, then why aren't you already watching?

April Ludgate

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
