After living in Florida for just about a year and visiting it countless times before I started my Disney College Program, I consider myself an honorary Floridian. I got to know the weather, the people, and the businesses all unique to the state. Florida just isn't for everyone, and here are 10 reasons why.
1. It's (almost) always warm.
Who would want to live somewhere where it's 70 degrees in December?
2. Theme Parks. So many Theme Parks.
Yeah, theme parks are fun, but when is it just too much? Universal Studios, Sea World, Busch Gardens, and more?
3. Disney World is basically its own city.
Come on Mickey, you're monopolizing the state of Florida and we all know it.
4. There are beautiful beaches on both coasts.
That means there are probably sharks nearby. No thanks!
5. Florida doesn't have a state tax.
You mean the state won't be taking money out of my checks? Well, that's just ridiculous.
6. Publix is pretty much the nicest grocery store in existence.
It'll put your favorite Meijer, Walmart, or Kroger to shame.
7. You'll probably be tan for most of the year.
Gross.
8. Too many beautiful places to visit.
Celebration, St. Augustine, Key West, Tarpon Springs, Ft. Lauderdale, the list goes on and on. Who has enough time to visit them all?
9. Florida is home to a relatively new Major League Soccer team going into its second season this year.
All of that state pride for soccer and the color purple? Yeah, I'll pass.
10. Great food, nightlife, and always something to do on the weekends.
Between the theme parks, downtown Orlando, the beaches, Miami, and the sports, it's difficult to not find something to do when you need a night out. What if you want to just curl up in bed with Netflix?!
It's plain to see that there are plenty of reasons why moving to Florida is a bad idea.
(But I'll take my chances.)
