10 Reasons Why You Should Consider Worcester State University

Senior year is that time to make your "final decision." A decision that can change the rest of your life. Everyone has their top and bottom school, it's what the person is looking for in a school that makes the difference. Do you want to go to a big, medium or small school? State college or private? There are so many things to consider. The following are reasons why you should consider Worcester State University.

1. It's a quiet campus

Although there is always the possibility of a loud neighbor, the campus as a whole is very peaceful. You won't hear people screaming outside or down the hall frequently.

2. Easy to navigate

WSU's campus is very straight forward, so you don't have to be worried about getting lost. The layout of the campus is easy to learn and easy to explain to others.

3. It's an active school

WSU always holds small events to keep students involved. Each resident hall will have activities such as "make your own dip and dots" or "food from around the world." At these events you can meet new people and learn new things. WSU holds all different kinds of events for their students. Check out the Woo Weekly or keep your eye out for bulletin boards. There's always something going on!

4. WSU really cares about their students

WSU wants their students to succeed so that is why they make us work so hard. The majors and programs, like the Nursing program, at WSU are top notch. The majors at WSU are competitive but you learn how to work for what you want. From personal experience, professors at WSU are more than willing to help. As a Psychology major, I find that my professors are really nice, very knowledgeable and willing to go above and beyond for their students.

5. WSU is located in central Mass

Worcester State is very easy to get too. No matter where you are within the state, WSU isn't too far away. While residing in central Massachusetts, WSU should be on everyone's list.

6. We love our sport teams

GO LANCERS! Whether you're into football, track, woman lacrosse or field hockey, you can watch games at Coughlin Field. Enrolled students and alumni gather every homecoming to watch the football game and it's one of my favorite times of the year. Our sport teams put in a lot of time and dedication to be where they are today. Tune into our Spring schedule and come watch a game.

7. Our resident halls are fully equipped

Whether you're in Dowden or Wayslean Hall, you'll have everything you need. In Dowden, you have the C-store, which is open to all students. It's a nice small convenient store that has all of your basic needs. Wayslean is an apartment styled dorm where you have a kitchen, bathroom and common room. What's better then that?

8. The Lancer Loft is the best

The Lancer Loft is a new hot spot on campus where you can spend some of your dining dollars on great food. There are always people having conversations and enjoying some pretty awesome food. They have burgers, pizza, hot wings, desserts and much more.

9. There's food around every corner

WSU has so many places for all of their students to grab a bite or coffee. There is the C-store, Java Junction, the dining hall, Woo Cafe and the Library Cafe. The student center also has a place where many commuters like to go to kill time. There you can get a salad, stir fry or even a sub. There are so many food options on campus you can basically eat whatever you're craving.

10. WSU makes you want to achieve great things

WSU does a good job encouraging their students. They want us to succeed and achieve amazing things in our lives. Academics can be hard and stressful but there are so many services to help! You have the tutoring center, Academic success and counseling center to name a few. If you're ever having an issue, someone at WSU knows the solution. We are offered many services that can only benefit us and help us succeed.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
