When you give your campers that last hug goodbye as they head home and the tears start forming in their eyes... you know all of your effort was 100% worth it. Watching your camper leave a better person and having them ask you if they will see you again next year, is a great complement to yourself.
1. You get to be as wild as you want.
You get to spend weeks (depending on the camp) acting like a total freak, getting kids pumped up and no one can say anything about it because it is socially acceptable.
2. MONEY
uhhhhmmm you get paid to P.L.A.Y. Yes, if you take your ending pay check an dived it by the hours you were there, it may be ridiculously low... but you are literally being paid to simply laugh and bond.
3. High demand
You will be in high demand. The kids will constantly be asking for you, hanging around you, asking you weird questions, needing help, showing you EVERYTHING THEY DO.
4. Connections with campers
You will make family like bonds with your kids. Staying up past lights out, having them tell you all about their crushes, having dance parties, crying from laughing so hard...
5. You become a morning person...
You will learn to appreciate early mornings. Sometimes waking up early while the world is still asleep, can be so peaceful.
6. ...and get a workout from laughing
You will get a GREAT ab workout because you will be laughing about 98.9% of the time you are there. Kids have wild imagination and have no boundaries so you will hear and see some pretty memorable things!
7. Time management skills (kinda)
You will master the art of 2 minute showers, falling asleep everywhere (without being caught of course), and surviving off of 4 hours of sleep... well with the help of 6 cups of coffee...
8. Tan lines!
Shorts tan? Farmers tan? Chaco's tan? Watch tan? Check, check, check AND CHECK (the tan line competitions are real).
9. Memories for a lifetime
There will be so many stories that start with "This one time at camp....!" and trust me, those will be your fondest memories.
10. You become a role model
You will become a leader whether you realize it, want it or not! The chitlens look up to you for everything. You basically become their parent. You have to help them find their missing pajama pants, pull them away as they are about to shove a knife into toaster... you know, those kinds of things.
