Grey's anatomy has been one of my all time favorite shows since the 9th grade. From the first episode that I watched, I was automatically hooked. Some people may say that the show has been drawn out for too long and that it's too dramatic, but here are the reasons that I got hooked onto Grey's Anatomy. (SPOILERS)
1. Meredith and Derek's love story
Meredith and Derek have, in my opinion, one of the greatest love stories of all time. The picture above shows the scene in which Derek proposes to Meredith in the elevator that they first kissed in with scans of all the patients cases they've worked on together. If that's not enough for you to start watching the show then you need to reevaluate your priorities.
2. Cristina and Meredith's friendship
Meredith and Cristina, also known as "the Twisted Sisters," represent all of our friendship goals. Even through all the jealousy, traumas, and deaths they've been through, they were still each other's person at the end of the day and could always count on the other to dance out their stress with.
3. Just Cristina Yang in general
Cristina Yang is my actual idol. She represents a truly independent female leader who is not afraid to do what needs to get done. She is such a strong person, and she can always get back up when she falls, no matter how hard she falls.
4. The story line
The whole story line of Grey's Anatomy is really attention grabbing, especially because of the drama. A lot of the drama is not just "oh she did this thing that I don't like so I hate her now." I feel as though the drama that's more related to life, such as marriage or career choice, and that is what makes it relatable.
There may be some people who disagree with this one because of what happened in the recent episode, but I love seeing how compassionate Karev is about his work, his patients, and just the people in his life. He's like one of those people who would do or give up anything and everything for the people in his life.
6. THE GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, just look at them. Just REALLY look at them. You have McDreamy, McSteamy, Jackson Avery, and Alex Karev. You honestly don't even have to pay attention to the show itself. Just sit and stare in awe at these gorgeous human beings.
7. The surgeries
Of course the surgeries aren't real and aren't accurately portrayed, but just watching all of these surgeons at Seattle Grace doing their jobs is captivating with all of the tension, worry, and stress. In some ways, it can make me feel as though I want to become a surgeon.
8. Dr. Bailey's attitude
Okay, Dr. Bailey is an actual boss. She is a little women with a big attitude. She will be brutally honest if you ask for her opinion, and I would consider her the mom of the show. Her character just has so much personality and demand that you can't help but love her, even if she can scare you some times.
9. The diversity and representation in the cast
When I really think about it, Grey's Anataomy has one of the most diverse casts that I know. They represent the LGBTQIA community. The racial diversity is obviously there. Not only that, but they also discuss controversial matters that relate to race and the LGBTQIA community in the show.
10. The disaster/emergency episodes
So this picture is actually from the first Grey's Anatomy episode that I ever watched and also the episode that drew me into the show. Throughout the 12, now onto the 13th, seasons of the show, every season will have at least one or two episodes where there's a huge disaster or a huge emergency at the hospital. Whether it be a disaster that brings a lot of people into the hospital or an emergency that occurs within the hospital, these are my favorite type of episodes.
