10 Reasons Why We Will Never Forget High School Musical

Fads and trends have come and gone, but there were certain things from our childhood that we just can't let go of. Disney Channel has produced a lot of movies, but none of them have hit the masses like "High School Musical" did in 2006.

Attempts at such greatness like "Camp Rock" and "Teen Beach Movie" were good, I admit (as an 18-year-old), but I watched them once and I have no interest in watching them ever again. "High School Musical" was different; the producers were able to create 3 films (although nothing was as good as the original) that us 90's kids could watch over and over again. Here's why:

1. The music.

"High School Musical" has the ultimate jam-out songs. We know all the lyrics down to the last beat.

2. The dancing.

Only in these movies was it completely normal for the entire student body to burst into song and dance with epic choreography...that we all mastered.

3. It was so good that they had sing-a-longs and dance-a-longs that we all watched.

4. Your closet won't let you forget.

'

The shirt, the sweatpants, the pajamas, the backpack, the dolls, the video game, the DVDs...do I even need to go on? You had it all, and you probably still do, buried in the inner depths of your house.

5. Zac Efron

Sure, Zac Efron has appeared in a myriad of movies since his big debut in "High School Musical." And I have to admit, he's done a great job breaking free from his Troy Bolton character (no pun intended). Zac Efron is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood; sometimes I'll just watch the "High School Musical" films to watch him dance and sing and get all emotional because he's so freakin' attractive.

6. It made us all fantasize singing on the tables in a high school cafeteria.

Probably one of the most famous songs from the movie is "Stick To The Status Quo." Not really because of its empowering lyrics, but mainly the incredible dance number that made us all want to be a part of it. East High IS #highschoolgoals.

7. Sharpay Evans is a character you can't forget.

She's probably the reason girls who watched the movie thought it was okay to be such a diva (myself included).

8. Troy and Gabriella showed us relationship goals.

They've convinced us all that it's possible to find true love at a resort singing karaoke. I can't think of another movie that stole our hearts TWO MINUTES IN!

9. That dance moves in "What I've Been Looking For" are in our brains forever.

10. It inspired us to follow our dreams despite the "status quo" or even what our parents think of them.

Ten years have now gone by since the original premiere of the movie that changed our lives. "High School Musical" is something that will most certainly live on as I think all of us have it on top of our lists of things we have to show our children. The lessons about friendship, family, and love are never going out of style.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
