Hey Spartans!

Welcome back to East Lansing. Although winter break was MUCH needed, I'm sure you all are very eager to be back at your home away from home. Whether you spent your vacation traveling, working, watching Netflix, or sitting at your parents house bored out of your mind, the time has come for second semester to finally start! There are so many reasons why you should be thrilled to be back at MSU, let's start with....

1. Seeing your friends

It's always nice to see your friends that you haven't sen in a while, especially those who live far away!

2. Having your freedom back

Not that we all don't love spending time with our family, however, at home when you stay out late your parents are probably worried. Up at school, you could not go back to your dorm for a week and nobody would even notice.

3. An end to boredom

Maybe your hometown is super exciting and fun, but for those of you who live in little towns I'm sure you are excited to be apart of the EL night life once again.

....and lets not forget about all that East Lansing has to offer....

4. Brody Caf

An endless amount of food that you don't have to cook yourself? Definitely have missed that.

5. Dairy Store

No other ice cream even compares...don't bother arguing with me on this one.

6. Conrads

I'm sure you all have missed ordering a #1 at 2 a.m or stopping in for onion rings on your way home from a party.

As well as seeing our favorite sports teams back in action....

7. Izzo season in full force

I'm sure you have all missed watching your favorite players while sitting court-side. Being able to attend the game by just walking over to Breslin is both easy and convenient.

8. Continuing our education

So many exciting opportunities are available second semester! And for our seniors....this is your last semester! Make it count.

9. Beautiful campus....and SNOW DAYS

Although walking in the bitter cold and snow is truly brutal, the possibility of having snow days is upon us. Hopefully we get a few this semester and none of us have to leave our warm, cozy beds...although our snow-covered campus truly is beautiful.

10. SYLLABUS WEEK

It's like welcome week all over again, why can't every week of school be this easy?

Transitioning back to school may not be easy for everyone, however East Lansing is our favorite place for many of us. We couldn't imagine going back anywhere else.I'm sure everyone is eager to get back into their daily routines, even though it comes with the stress of school and work. Best of luck to you all as you begin kicking second semester's ass this week! Sparty on!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
