My little sister was born four days after my fourth birthday. I didn’t know it at the time, but that squishy little baby would become my playmate, my confidant, and my best friend. In honor of all amazing sisters out there, here are ten ways sisters are awesome.

1. She understands all your inside jokes and references, and doesn’t laugh at you for your undying love of Harrison Ford.

You’ve had hours of entertainment from watching old YouTube videos and vines, and even more hours referencing those same videos.

2. Because of your sister, you basically have two wardrobes to draw from.

Twice the shirts and shoes, and even if you aren’t the same size, you still have two times the accessories.

3. She is shoulder to cry on when you’re stressed or upset, and is always your number one supporter.

No matter what happens, you will always have each other to cry on.

4. She is the best partner when it comes to shenanigans, tomfoolery, and sneaking an extra cookie from the freezer.

You’ve had years to refine your skills in sneakery, and together you know you’re a force to be reckoned with.

5. She’s your harshest fashion critic, which is helpful when shopping for clothes.

Not only does she know what looks good, she also will tell you when you don’t look good.

6. She keeps secrets better than anyone, mostly because half of them include her as well.

Sisters that sneak together, keep secrets together.

7. She is always down to get food, especially when one of you gets a license.

Food always tastes better together, and it’s definitely more fun too.

8. She knows all the gossip, which is especially helpful if one of you has gone to college and needs helping keeping up with the old group back home.

Sisters have a way of collecting dirt on everyone.

9. She gives the best advice.

You look up to her, whether she’s older or younger than you, and that means listening to what she has to say and learning from it. You trust each other to know what will be best.

10. She is your best friend.

Sure, you may get annoyed and angry with each other, but at the end of the day, you love each other, and you know there’s no one else quite like her in your life.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
