- 1.Packs of Freshmen Everywhere - Traveling in large groups of up to 15 other freshman is actually one of the most fun things you can do as a freshman. I remember always going out with my giant group of friends that all lived on my floor at Bromley. It was always so much fun because we would go from frat house to apartment party and be laughing all the way. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors always make fun of the “packs” of freshman, but they all secretly want to go back to when they did that too.
- 2.Wide Eyed and Bushy Tailed – That look that every single freshman has actually is a good thing! I miss everything being so new and wanting to explore it all with my new best friends. Being asked if I was a freshman all the time was funny and definitely got us into a lot of random parties, which of course was a plus.
- 3.Dorm Life – I have to say, living in Bromley Hall was the best choice I have ever made. I met so many great people living in the dorms and it was incredibly welcoming. People would always know of a party going on and even invite you in for a drink or two before hitting the bars.
- 4.Embodying a New Persona – I have to admit, this happened a lot more than it should have. As a freshman, you’ll do just about anything to get in at the bars even though you’re only 18. Time to find an ID that looks somewhat….kind of….not really like you. I remember a few of my friends who were brunette and 5’ 2’’ and borrowed IDs from girls who were 5’8’’ and blond. Freshmen just want to have the same fun as we all do, and who wants to wait a whole four months to hit the Joe’s stripper poles?
- 5.Overly Excited to Wear Greek Letters – This definitely described both my friends and I last year. I remember being so overly excited to wear letters I would buy and grab whatever t-shirt or tank my sorority would make. There were also a lot of people in my classes who would wear letters every single day after bid day. I feel like as you get older, you tend to wear your letters lesser and lesser because you take them for granted. Freshmen never take them for granted.
- 6.Always Getting Lost – I already mentioned this before, but everything being so new is both fun and exciting, even if you have trouble finding it. I personally loved being the curious little freshman that loved finding the most delicious coffee shop, the best spot at the gym to do ab workouts, and your go-to bar that you would love for the rest of freshman year. Everything seemed so large-scale and almost scary. That thrill lasts about one whole semester, and then you become a pro.
- 7.Leaving Your High School Friends Behind – It’s really great to keep in touch with your high school best friends, because well, they’re the best you’ll ever get, but always hanging out with your high school friends who came with you to the same school just gets tiring after a while. Every freshman soon learns that the best kind of friends, are the new ones yet to be made. Not hanging out with your high school friends pushes you out into the college world all by yourself, but it’s the best thing you can absolutely do. Making new friends changed my life in college and I found the closest friends when I did.
- 8.Dance the Night Away – This one can be a fine line. While it is fun to get rid of all the stress after a hard week of classes and meetings, no one wants to see or be the trashy freshman. I am specifically saying to embrace the carefree life of a freshman, except not spilling beer all over and taking your shirt off. I still love the people that dance at parties, but it diminishes over the years. Don’t let that happen, grab your nearest sorority sister and dance your heart out for the entire night.
- 9.The Confident Freshman – Freshman have a new-found boost of confidence when they enter college. They’re meeting so many new people, living on their own, and trying out new fashion and beauty looks. Everyone should embody the freshmen confidence because it makes you invincible…or at least you think you are. When you’re down in the dump and need a pick-me-up, just act crazy and take chances.
- 10.Make New Changes – College is all about getting to know who you really are. There is no way to find out unless you make some drastic changes. Freshman year was all about trying out new style trends, dying your hair different colors, going to the gym every day, or become more outgoing. It was fun because no one knew who you were in college. This makes sophomores, juniors, and seniors shy away from making drastic changes in their lives. Never stop making changes just because you’re afraid it might not work out.

10 Reasons Why You Should Embrace Freshman Stereotypes While You Still Can
As sophomores, juniors, and seniors we all make fun of the freshmen as they strap on the tallest high heels to go out, or when they sit in the front row of every class. Here are a few stereotypes that I feel every freshman should embrace, not shy away from.
