It's an undisputed fact that New England does fall better than anywhere else in the world. But for those who doubt this fact or are yet to discover all that a New England autumn has to offer, I present this list.
1. The foliage
The burnt red and orange leaves paint the landscape in already-beautiful New England, and make the scenery even more picturesque.
2. The Big E
New England has perfected the fall season so much, that we hold a region-wide fair called the Eastern States Exposition, otherwise known as the Big E. Visit each of the houses honoring New England's states and the best they have to offer, enjoy a variety of rides, and most of all, prepare to eat all the delicious, artery-clogging fair food you can.
3. The weather
It's perfect for taking a walk outside in a cozy sweater.
4. The foliage
5. Pumpkin festivals
Fall wouldn't be fall without pumpkins, so be sure to check out any of New England's grand pumpkin festivals held throughout September and October. Keene, New Hampshire in particular hosts its annual pumpkin festival that thousands visit, so you should too.
6. Apple festivals
If pumpkin festivals, aren't your thing, don't worry. New England is also chock-full of apple festivals held at orchards that allow you to not only pick your own bucket of apples, but sample tasty treats like apple cide, pie, and fritters.
7. Hiking spots
Whether it's the Berkshires in Massachusetts, the Green Mountains in Vermont, or anything in between, New England hiking trails are most utilized in the crisp, fall months for breathtaking views of what else? Fall foliage.
8. Did I mention the foliage?
9. Perfect football weather
Night games are chilly but not freezing, and afternoon games are often paired with perfect sunny weather to make your tailgate better.
