10 Reasons Why New England Is The Best Place To Live

For my entire life I have been able to call myself a resident of New England, and I wouldn’t change that for the world. From the food to the beaches, New England has it all. Here are a few reasons why New England is the best region in the the United States:

1. We have all four seasons.

Every season in New England is also twenty million times prettier than anywhere else in the country.

2. No matter where you live, you are only a few hours from an ocean, mountain, or lake.

Thanks to the abundance of small states and our location, it’s only a day's trip to enjoy the beach or going skiing.

3. The history.

Pilgrims, tea being dumped off of ships, and revolutions all first happened in New England.

4. The cities and towns.

You’re not going to find the charm of a small and quaint New England town anywhere else, and, of course, we always have Boston to go to if we’re looking for a city trip.

5. The food.

Being a Connecticut girl, I live and breathe New Haven pizza. New England statesare known for our mouth-watering seafood.

6. The sports teams are unlike no others.

Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, you name a sport, we have it, and we’re undeniably better than your non-New England team.

7. The nature.

New England is naturally beautiful, and we host countless hiking trails (even parts of the Appalachian Mountains), long sandy beaches with picturesque lighthouses, and mountains that have a peak high enough to allow you to see three states all at once.

8. Apple picking, pumpkin patches, and cutting down our own Christmas trees are seasonal staples for a New England family.

Every fall, you make more apple pies than humanly possible, and while the pies are in the oven, you’re also carving pumpkins two times the size of your head. When Christmas rolls around, we always make a trip to the farm to cut down our own tree.

9. Newport, Cape Cod, Nantucket, and more are only a day’s trip away and offer incredible things.

The beaches are incomparable to even Florida’s or California’s, and there’s nothing like being in the Cape or Nantucket on a nice summer's day.

10. We gave the world Dunkin Donuts and the hamburger.

Yes, world, you’re welcome.

So there you have it, just a few reasons why New England is the best.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
