This season is the final season of Teen Wolf...like ever. It's so saddening but it feels right. I mean, most fans knew it was going to come an end soon because the story set up for it. I watched this show throughout all of high school and got so attached to the characters. I cried with them, cheered them on and I wound up loving them. Here are the 10 reasons why I love Teen Wolf:
1. The Storyline:
The stories always leave me breathless. Each season is filled with so much intrigue and suspense. The world Jeff Davis created is so complex and wonderful its not even funny. Like the writers on Teen Wolf better be paid mad money because they deserve it. The character development that goes on tin the show is amazing. From Scott of season one to Scott of season six is so different and it was so cool to watch him change from an insecure boy to a strong man, who protects his pack. I think the most drastic character who changed was Lydia. She went from bitchy, stereotype to strong female character who independent and powerful.
2. The Cast:
Speaking of characters, the cast who plays them are seriously amazing. They stand up for good causes and even use Teen Wolf to get fans involved in important charities. They are always including fans and going to events to show how much the love and appreciate their continued support. They use their platforms to help fans make a name for themselves and Jeff Davis gives newer actors a chance to become anything they want.
3. The Villains:
The villains in this show are just as good as the heroes and heroines. Every season and sub season, we get these amazing villains. My favorite is Void Stiles. I love Japanese lore and this season really held my heart. It was painful to watch but so we'll done and acted out. On that note, all the villains were and are (we aren't doe yet! Keep going season 6!) so complex and unique. If you think this is some cliched show about supernatural creatures then think again because it is anything but.
4. The Romance:
I am so into love stories. I can't stop myself from rooting couples on or even "shipping them". In this show relationships change quickly and while most shows, you wind up hating when couples break up but in Teen Wolf you see that, like in life, relationships don't always last and that it's for the best. Though one couple (fans know who I am talking about) just NEEDS to FINALLY get together. Like damn guys, please.
5. The Emotions:
This show brings out so much in me. I actually feel their pain because despite the supernatural aspects, they are people whom I can relate to on basic levels. I understand Scott's want to fit in and be good at lacrosse. I understand Stiles want for the girl he loves to notice him and to love him back. I understand the death of loves ones and how they never really leave you. These characters evoke so much emotion and empathy that their lives begin to feel like your own. The scene from season three, where Scott is holding the flare and Stiles tells Scott he love him (not like that, though some wish), I dare you not to cry. I dare you.
6. The Humor:
This show is hilarious and has you rolling, usually from Stiles and his pure humanness. His one-liners make me relate so much and also pee my pants. Stiles and Derek relationship is a love/hate but seriously funny relationship. It makes you think of your own friends and how you guys burn each other but with love.
7. The Fandom:
We are all connected and share our love for Teen Wolf. There are so many events that connect us but also when I walk around on campus I wear a hoodie with Stiles lacrosse number and his last name and it draws so many other fans to me, it's amazing. It makes me feel connected to something. I'm not a die-hard fan but I do love talking to other fans and sharing our favorite moments and characters.
8. Supernatural Elements:
There is such a variety of supernatural creatures. Even the stereotypical werewolves are so unique because Jeff Davis makes them so much more than myths. He makes all the creatures human and deadly with so many twists on who they are that they aren't anything like you'd expect or have come to know. He always surprises you, even if you guess it, he throws you on the tiniest details.
9. Mature Content:
They don't treat you like a little kid or a teenager but rather an adult. Jeff Davis gives you adult content and allows you to make what you want of it. It's on MTV, which gives them some content variety and some age leniency. I love that I never felt weird was a teenager watching sex or battles because they made it within the lines. It balances so precariously and does it so amazing well, it astounds me.
10. Stiles:
Let's be honest. Stiles makes the show. He is one of the only humans and proves time and time again you don't need to have supernatural powers to be a hero. His character depth and development are what hold the show up. Stiles is the foundation of the show and without him it would be nothing. A faint memory. Stiles shows that even a human has the capacity to save lives and that inspires many watchers to make a difference themselves in hopes to be more like the person Stiles is. He is so amazing it's not even funny. The relationships he is revolved in show the complexity and beauty of human emotions and relationships. Stiles makes the show human. Whether he is with Scott, his dad, or even Lydia; each relationship gives the show more to build on. Stiles really does hold the show and without Dylan O'Brien's stellar acting stills, Stiles wouldn't be who he is and the show wouldn't be what it is.
Final word: watch this show. I promise you won't regret a single moment, whether you are laughing or crying or screaming at your tv, it's all worth what the show gives you. The knowledge of human and supernatural capacity to love and inspire each other.
