Top 10 Reasons Why I Love Fall
Mark Bergkvist

Fall has been my favorite season for as long as I can remember. There's something about fall that makes it different than all the other seasons. Fall is different because fall constantly represents change. The weather is changing, the colors of leaves are changing, your classes are changing, the people you surround yourself with are changing, but most importantly, your intake of pumpkin spice lattes are changing! Just kidding about that last one... or maybe not. But fall is all about change, and it's pretty cool to know that a season serves far more than just what it's title states.

Here are my top 10 reasons as to why I absolutely love fall and you should too!

1. Fall weather is unbelievably calming

Think about it: walking around while taking in that brisk and fresh air is actually such an incredibly feeling. Summer is way too hot, spring is always up and down, and winters can get a bit too chilly. But... fall? Fall is the great balance of all of the above. Fall is perfect.

2. Reuniting with friends

Yeah, we all complain about having to go back to school, but lets be real here... admit it, you know you’re ready to go and catch up with all the friends you said you’d make plans with over the summer -- which you didn't… so yeah, it’s probably best to catch up now having those three months apart!

3. Fall means FLANNELS!

Flannels, flannels, FLANNELS! You can never go wrong with flannels in the fall -- it's a staple in the meaning of fall!

4. Fall attire is the best

I absolutely love dressing for fall because the options are endless! Fall clothing is the best clothing because you can easily dress up with a flannel, vest, and boots, or you can wear sweaters, hoodies, and sweatpants/leggings everyday with it being totally acceptable. It really doesn't take much to dress for fall.

5. Fall is picture perfect

The scenery is beautiful! When you go outside, take a look at your surroundings. The leaves are becoming crisp and orange as well as the sky which show all different tones of red and orange. You can be anywhere and the background makes it picture perfect. You can literally take a picture of a leaf and post it on Instagram and it'll look 100x better than it would if it was any other season!

6. All things PUMPKIN!

Fall means PUMPKIN EVERYTHING! Pumpkin carving.. pumpkin picking.. pumpkin...

7. Pumpkin Spice Latte

Who doesn't enjoy a warm cup of pumpkin spice latte on the go or even just at the coffee shop while reading a book? It's one of my favorite parts of the season! Seasonal drinks all the wayyyy!

8. Pumpkin Carving

Okay so maybe not everyone's pumpkin comes out like that.. ESPECIALLY mine, but it's still fun to attempt!

9. Pumpkin Pie

A warm piece of pumpkin pie topped with some icecream to go with that latte?! Yes please!!

10. Holidays!!

Just thinking about Thanksgiving dinner got me like...

And thinking about how fun Halloween is going to be got me like...

If these aren't enough reasons to love fall then I don't know what is! Fall is beautiful, calming, and all around nothing but positive vibes. As I mentioned earlier, fall is a season of change and it's amazing how one season could represent so much more than just it's title. And change is inevitable but it's up to you to make it a positive one rather than negative. Here's to new scenery, a new school year, and new beginnings!

Happy Fall! :)

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
