I have only been kickboxing for about a month now, but truth be told, it has been the exercise I ever had. So, from me to you, here are 10 reasons why you should go take a kickboxing class.

1) The first class is free (in Staten Island anyways)

You can actually learn how to kickbox and take a class for free. I promise after one class you'll be a member though.

2) You will work your entire body at once.

Kickboxing works every muscle with combinations of punches, kicks, and cardio workouts. You will tone and stretch every body part, and you will definitely be sore the next morning, but in a good way.

3) You get to pretend the punching bag is your ex-boyfriend.

Take that anger and just picture his face on that bag, girl. Show him who's boss. Show him what he lost.

4) You have a motivator who runs the class and pushes you do go harder.

This is quite possibly the best part of kickboxing in my opinion. No matter what, you are never alone in this class. There is always someone there to talk to you (more like yell at you) and remind you why you're there in the first place.

5) You are surrounded by people who also want a healthier lifestyle.

If the trainer isn't motivating you, the other members definitely are. They are serious about their goals, and they want exactly what you want: to just be healthier!

6) You learn defense techniques.

This is one workout that can really save your life if you are attacked. It strengthens your reflexes and instincts.

7) It is exciting.

Kickboxing is never boring, there are always new combinations and moves to learn, even if you have been kickboxing for a while.

8) The music is great.

They blast your favorite radio songs, house music and even hard rock. It really gets your adrenaline pumping, and gets you into a happy mood.

9) It makes you tough.

This is an exercise that either gender be a part of, and not make women feel like the weaker sex. You punch and kick as hard as you can. When most people hear that a girl kickboxes, they assume that she can probably kick thier ass.

10) You can burn 1,000 calories in one hour.

Isn't that insane? Running won't do that for you ladies and gentlemen.

So if you're like me, and you really need motivation sometimes to get through the workout, then this is for you. Grab a pair of gloves, and start working that bag

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
