10 Reasons Why It's Great To Be Irish

This and every Saint Patrick's Day, we appreciate the Irish spirit and outlook on life. Whether you are 100 percent Irish or not at all, here's why you should say "Erin go Bragh" this week:

1. If you’re looking for some of the most stunning views in the world, Ireland is the place to go.

2. The Irish have the second highest per-capita consumption of beer after the Czech Republic—an average of 131.1 liters of beer per year. With famous Irish breweries like Guinness, can you blame them?

3. Ireland has one of the highest rates of church attendance in the world. Even Jesus loves the Irish!

4. The Republic of Ireland was ranked the third most tolerant nation in the world. Even though 88 percent of citizens identify as Catholic, the Irish are widely known for their acceptance of all races and sexual orientations.

5. Ireland consistently ranks within the top 20 when measuring citizens’ happiness, beating out the British, French and Italians.

6. In a 2014 CNN poll, the Irish were voted as having the seventh most desirable accent in the world.

7. Gaelic, though not widely spoken, is a beautiful and meaningful language. Nothing is quite as moving as the phrase “Cha deoch-slàint, i gun a tràghadh” (It’s no health if the glass is not emptied).

8. Kurt Cobain, Georgia O’Keeffe, Henry Ford, Walt Disney, Alfred Hitchcock, F. Scott Fitzgerald, John F. Kennedy and Tom Brady are all of Irish descent.

9. Dublin is one of the most historically rich and beautiful cities in the world. Home to literary geniuses Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw, it is one of six cities in the world to be named a UNESCO City of Literature. Dublin’s Phoenix Park is the largest park in Europe, and the city alone is reported to have over 1,000 pubs. The Guinness Storehouse, a Dublin-based icon, is one of Europe’s most visited tourist attractions.

10. We know our potatoes. Whether mashed, baked, chipped, skinned or roasted, you can thank the Irish for the beauty that is potatoes. The Irish themselves are said to eat between seven and 14 potatoes a day!

Being Irish means something different to everyone, but world-wide, the Irish know how to appreciate life. Happy Saint Patrick's Day, and sláinte!

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
