10 Reasons Why I'm Thankful For My Dad

Daddy,

I know I’ve never told you how much I appreciate you and the things you do for me, so let me take a moment to tell you.

1. Thank you for always making me laugh

You always know how to make me laugh whether I’m in a bad mood or having a great day. Your silly stupid jokes are my favorite, no matter how ridiculous they are.

2. Thank you for teaching me about my favorite sport

For as long as I can remember, you have always watched hockey on TV whenever it was on and if it weren't for you having it on all the time, I don't think I would have ever started playing. Also thank you for teaching me so much about it. You may not know everything there is to know about it, but everything that you knew, you taught me, so thank you.

3. Thank you for being able to talk to me about anything and everything

Even when it comes to boys or other girl things, you've always been able to talk about it with me. Some girls can’t talk to their dads about stuff like that and I’m thankful I can talk about them with you with no judgment on what ever it may be.

4. Thank you for teaching me to be strong

You and mom have always encouraged me to be who I am no matter what anyone thinks and if it weren't for your support, I wouldn't be the strong person I am today.

5. Thank you for exposing me to older music

Unlike a lot of people my age, I enjoy older rock and roll music. Music you grew up with is nothing like it is today and I’m fortunate enough to know how real music should sound.

6. Thank you for making me eat food I’ve never had before

Whether I ended up liking it or not, you still made me try it and that might be a weird thing to be thankful for but it’s the little things you do for me that mean a lot.

7. Thank you for your service

For 20 years, you served this place all us Americans call home and I’m beyond proud to tell people that my dad served our country. You sacrificed a lot to do what you signed up for and you gave it your all. So thank you daddy for your service.

8. Thank you for giving me your sense of humor

Even though I look like mom and sometimes act like her too, I'm also very much like you, especially your sense of humor. You can laugh at the little things and I can too and I’m glad I was able to get that from you because laughing at the little things matter too.

9. Thank you for showing me how I deserves to be treated by my future husband

The way you treat mom shows me exactly how I deserve to be treated by my future husband. You’re her best friend, you make her laugh, you support her, and care for her unconditionally. When I see you treat her that way, I know that I deserve to be treated like that too so thank you for showing me how a man should treat his wife.

10. Last but not least, thank you for being my dad

Thank you for everything and more. There aren't enough words in the dictionary to express how grateful I am to have you as my dad. You are the greatest dad anyone girl could ask for and I’m proud to call you mine. I love you daddy.

Love,

Your little girl

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
