10 Reasons Why I'm Addicted to Gossip Girl
Odyssey Online

1. The steamy romance of Chuck and Blair.

There could not be a more perfect example of this than the love of Chuck and Blair. Their love was everything you could only dream of. Tenacious, passionate, statuesque. It was clear to everyone watching that there was no better match for the two of them, and they managed to work through every detour that was thrown at them. Long live the unbreakable bond of Chlair.

2. Dorota Kishlovsky.

From her comic one-liners, to her entertaining facial expressions, she was hands down the most under-appreciated character on the show. I felt bad for every time Blair treated her so poorly, but I couldn't help but adore the relationship that they shared. Plus, she did make the best points.

3. It was way ahead of its time.

Cecily von Ziegesar is seriously brilliant. A visionary. The first book in the series was written in 2002, and the first episode aired in 2007. Way long before any social media cites existed. It really set the base for Twitter, Yik-Yak, Instagram, etc.

4. S & B's friendship.

No matter how many times they fought, they always found their way back to each other because nobody does BFFs like Serena and Blair.

5. Serena's wardrobe.

Every episode I was filled with envy every time S was on screen. Every outfit fit her to a T and made me want to go on a shopping spree and upgrade everything in my closet.

6. The big cities.

As a travel enthusiast, I absolutely loved every time they ran away in Daddy's private jet to go explore some new city full of strolls down luxurious avenues and fancy restaurants. If only it were that easy for the rest of us!

7. Chuck Bass.

At first, Chuck only showed his despicable, womanizer, heartless side. But, once he started to work through his daddy issues and open up, that icy facade melted away and we got to see the real Chuck who loved so much and cared so deep. There are plenty of other fish in the sea, but there's only one Bass.

8. It pushed boundaries.

This show really tested the limits with the high society parties, teenagers drinking & having sex, the scandalous outfits. All of the sex, scandals, and sneaky little one-liners made this show worth the month of sacrificing a full 8 hour sleep while I binged all six incredible seasons.

9. The silly moments.

I always looked forward to the clever little lines, faces and jokes that would be scattered throughout the episodes. The show was rightfully labeled as a drama, but it had its very fair share of comedic moments!

10. Last, but certainly never least, the drama!

I won't even deny it. I loved every single second of the outrageous scandals and traveling to the Upper East Side and getting caught up in the fictitious lives of the hyper-privileged teens. As Gossip Girl says best, "You know you love me."

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
