10 Reasons Why Having A Dog Is A Precious Gift

Dogs are undoubtedly the best. From becoming part of your family to just being a protector, here are just some of the reasons that dogs are precious gifts.

1. They are always there for you

After a long day, your puppy is always there when you get home to happily greet you and kiss you. I know that when I come home, seeing my dog is one thing I get to look forward to every day.

2. You can always count on them to make you feel better

Dogs have a cool sense of when something is wrong. I can vouch for this sense with experience. They know when you’re upset and can tell when you’re excited. They can tell when something is wrong and will almost instantly try to comfort you with heavy sniffing or licking.

3. They’ll sleep on the couch/lay in bed with you all day and night

If you’re sick or even just want a lazy day, you always have a buddy to be with. Dogs are so loyal and will stick by your side, especially on a day consisting of cuddling up and resting all day.

4. You’re never alone

I know that being alone isn’t always something I like to do. Having a dog is really comforting during those times and they can make you feel less alone. Dogs have a great protective sense and are always there.

5. They are part of your family or they are your child

Growing up, my dogs were considered family. We treated them with love and care at all times. Now that I have my own dog, she’s more like my child (might sound crazy, but most dog owners will probably agree). You have to feed them, take them out, watch them when they’re young, and you grow to love them like they’re people.

6. You are their whole world

Some people don’t realize that to your dog, you are all they have. They know you and have no one else who consistently takes care of them and see them each and every day. You mean everything to them and you should always remember that.

7. They’ll always love you

Your dog loves you more than you’ll ever know. All they know is to loveyouand obey you, and that’s what they’ll always do to get your love.

8. They strive to make you happy and obey you

All dogs want are for us to love them and to be happy. Sometimes, I think about how precious dogs are and how undeserving some humans are of them. They want your acceptance and will obey you indefinitely.

9. They are incredibly smart

Sometimes we don’t give them enough credit for how intelligent they are. How amazing is it that they know how to communicate by knowing certain words and commands without actually being able to talk? They learn to understand, and that’s truly amazing.

10. They are your best friend

Ever heard of man’s best friend? (or woman’s). Well, that saying couldn’t be more true. All of the reasons mentioned before add to the reason why they are your best friend. Dogs are incredibly lovable companions to have around and we should always treasure them for how important and amazing they really are.

Dogs are truly wonderful animals. How lucky are we to have an animal so preciousin our lives?

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…
