When we were 13, a sleepover meant playing truth-or-dare in someone's basement, watching "Legally Blonde," and discussing which of the boys in you Language Arts class had the best lax flow hair. As college students, a sleepover often consists of passing out on someone's couch after getting trashed at the bars. The most underrated combination of these two phenomenons, however, is the girl's night. As much as we all love getting dressed up and going out to a party or bar and waking up the next morning with a massive hangover and a great story, some of the best nights come out of the times we stayed in, drinking wine with our friends. If you have yet to experience a Girls Night like this, here are a few reasons that should convince you to give it a go:

1. Most obviously: sweat pants

Getting ready to actually go out can take hours of preparation for what may end up being a bust of a night. To girls night, you can wear sweats, leggings, yoga pants, running shorts, flannels, T-shirts – the possibilities are endless.

2. No judgment

You need to pre and post-chase your shots? It takes you at least 90 seconds to shotgun a beer? No worries, your friends have been there and won’t judge (and may even know of a way for you to improve your technique).

3. Music will always be on point

Girls night means you don’t have to spend the evening pretending you know all the words to the newest top 40 rap because you can jam to Hilary Duff Pandora for as long as you’d like (and you memorized all those lyrics in seventh grade).

4. A dance party is actually a dance party

Dancing at a house party actually means "grinding while trying not to spill your drink all over yourself." Dancing at girls night means breaking out all the moves that are usually reserved for your private jams in front of your mirror.

5. It’s more economical

Heading to the bar means buying a $6, watered-down vodka sour that will last you 20 minutes. Staying in means pitching in $4 to split a thirty of Bud Light and a box of wine that will last you all night.

6. Gossip

As much as we hate to admit it, we secretly love knowing everything about everyone and a night in and a bottle of wine is the best way to discuss it.

7. Snacks

Why wait until the bar has announced their last call to start go wait in line for a pizza when you can enjoy a night in while eating and drinking simultaneously? Taco dip, cookie dough, queso, ice cream, muddie buddies, pizza – the possibilities are endless.

8. You don't have to wait for the weekend

Going out is most effective on either Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Girls nights can occur on any day of the week.

9. No line for the bathroom

Pretty self-explanatory. But when it’s time to break the seal or to puke and rally, there is a safe place to do so just steps away.

10. You genuinely like everyone in the room

Heading to a bar means spending a decent amount of the night grinding up against some sweaty frat guy only to turn around and realize he’s actually not cute at all. While you may know a lot of the people at a party, that also means there are a lot of people you need to avoid. Girls nights are exclusive to only those who you know and love.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
