10 Reasons Elf is the Best Christmas Movie

It’s that time of year again. No, I’m not talking about the crappy winter weather, I’m talking about, CHRISTMAS MOVIES! If you would have asked me this a few weeks ago, I would have shut you down and told you not to talk about Christmas until after Thanksgiving. But now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, it’s officially the Christmas season! There are way too many great Christmas movies made to be able to watch them all during the Christmas season, but that's okay because as long as I get to watch my favorite film, I'm happy.

Which movie is that you ask? Well, drum roll please....ELF! Elf is the type of movie that could put any Scrooge in the Christmas spirit during this magical time of year. It is physically impossible not to laugh at least once while you watch this movie. Here are 10 reasons why Elf is the best Christmas movie.

1. It teaches you that the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

I mean come on, what’s better than being in the Christmas spirit and singing annoyingly catchy songs?! No one can be in a bad mood when it's Christmas time and all the radio stations are playing all the best Christmas hits.

2. It gives you hope that your childhood dream of being an Elf could become reality, even if you were born a mere human being.

When you were a child and you find out that the elves get to play with Santa’s toys before any of the good boys and girls, you just prayed that one day you’d wake up and be in Santa’s workshop with all the other elves playing and eating cookies that Mrs. Claus made you.

3. Buddy teaches us the four basic food groups, and that it’s okay to eat like a pregnant woman.

Who else would put candy and maple syrup on spaghetti? You can’t lie, after watching Elf for the first time you all asked for syrup with every meal you had.

4. Buddy shows us that it’s okay to still get excited when you see a Santa at the mall.

Let’s face it, either you still act like a child when you see Santa, or you hold it together like an adult, but deep down inside you want to jump up and down.

5. Mr. Narwhal.

Does this even need an explanation? He is a top notch character, without him the movie would have fallen apart.

6. Zooey Deschanel and Will Ferrell singing “Baby it's Cold Outside”.

This is one of the best Christmas songs of our time. Plus, Buddies reaction to Jovie being in the shower and yelling at him is comedy gold.

7. Buddy gave us our new favorite way of answering the phone.

It’s a good question. Everyone deserves to know your favorite color, it’s a very important question.

8. Both adults and kids can sit through this movie and be in stitches by the end.

What’s even better is when you finally are old enough to get why the adults were laughing at certain parts of the movie.

9. Papa Elf.

He is the wise old man that everyone can’t help but love.

10. But most importantly, it teaches us that no matter what life sends our way, we can count on each other to make it through the holiday season.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
