10 Reasons Why No Educated, Morally Upright Citizen Can Vote For Donald Trump
Pittsburg City Paper

Well, here we are America. We are days away from Election Day and somehow the Republican Party managed to elect that sad sack of rotting orange peels as their leader. The Democratic Party has elected Hillary Clinton, despite overwhelming support for her colleague, Bernie Sanders. Many people, including several of my family members, are convinced HRC is the anti-christ, unfit to lead this country because she's a woman and doesn't understand how to work an email server, and are opting to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN by casting their vote for Donald Trump. Here is why no sensible human being should ever cast their vote for that spray-tanned menace.

1) His plan to "make education great again" in the United States is a complete catastrophe.

Donald Trump has said on multiple occasions that he wants to strip funding from the Department of Education, and even to eliminate it all together. He says we spend too much money on education, yet we are still low on the ranks compared to other countries. I'll give Donald Trump one thing here, and that is our education system could definitely improve. However, to eliminate the Department of Education because they spend too much on our children? Is that a JOKE?

The U.S. Dept. of Education funds over 250 programs that support education research that constantly strive to improve our education system. This is also what funds our fine arts programs in schools, allow low-income students to attend school and eat breakfast and lunch, receive free counseling and after-school programs, and to get an education, one of the most vital parts of functioning in and contributing to our society. So what's his plan, exactly? According to his website, he wants to reprioritize federal dollars to fund school choice, which his website explicitly states will favor private and charter schools. Well, this is great, but unfortunately 90% of youth go to PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Trump's plan will cut funding for low-income students and students with disabilities, ensure that fine arts in schools become obsolete, and make it virtually impossible for students to obtain loans in order to attend college. Trump is also spreading lies about Common Core, saying Washington is deciding what students are taught when actually those are state mandated policies, and he wants to ARM TEACHERS. Somehow, this man thinks that by putting guns in schools, he will diminish the number of school shootings in this country. Unbelievable.

As an educator myself, I'm nauseated by this fucktrumpet's plan to "improve" education. (Read more on his claims here.)

2) He vows to reverse marriage equality in the USA.

In 2015, SCOTUS ruled that not allowing same-sex couples to marry was unconstitutional. Trump has said numerous times he plans to appoint conservative judges to the Supreme Court that will work to overturn this ruling, and that he believes marriage is a sacred bond between man and woman. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is wondering, "if marriage is such a sacred bond, why have you cheated on your wives multiple times, and have been divorced twice?" This is a real asshole move, considering the LGBT community doesn't have any special rights after the ruling, just the same ones as everyone else. This really defies the part of the constitution that says "All men are created equal."

Not to mention, his running mate Mike Pence funds conversion therapy, which is a completely disgusting and deplorable way of trying to "convert" homosexual people back to being heterosexual. To be blunt, these are forms of torture. Techniques include electroshock therapy, the injection of nausea-inducing drugs during the projection of same-sex pornography, forcing prostitutes among the patients, ice-pick lobotomies, and genital mutilation. This is just to name a few. Victims of these kinds of torture usually become addicted to the drugs they are fed in this experiments, which is often heroin or cocaine.

Take a second. Imagine if that was your child. Need I explain any further?

3) HE'S A RACIST.

I mean, if the whole "I'm gonna build a wall" fiasco wasn't proof enough, Trump has proved to be a huge fucking racist. He has pulled every stereotype known to man and smeared them all over his campaign. He wants Muslims to wear IDs in public, similar to the way Jews had to wear a Star of David patch during the Holocaust, AND wants to have a Muslim Database. He has been sued twice for not renting his apartments to black people. He has called Mexicans rapists and criminals, and referred to them as "bad hombrés" in his most recent debate speech. He's calling for mass deportations of all immigrants, a policy which will separate families and destroy the foundation of America, a melting pot of cultures which we are so proud of. You should hear this guy talk about inner cities. I mean, Jesus Christ.

4) HE'S A RAPIST.

Not only is Trump going to court in December for the rape of a 13-year-old girl in 1994, but since then several women have come forward and accused Trump of sexually assaulting them, including his ex-wife, Ivana Trump. A Trump spokesperson in response to this said, "You cannot rape your spouse."

INCREDIBLE.

5) He doesn't give a damn about women's rights and healthcare.

Trump has stated numerous times that he is pro-life and will appoint pro-life judges to the Supreme Court. He has promised to defund Planned Parenthood should he become president, which would be detrimental to women and girls everywhere. Planned Parenthood provides breast cancer screenings, STD tests, pregnancy tests, pre-natal care, and dozens of other services that women need. Only 3% of their patient care goes towards abortions.

Many Trump supporters think that pro-choice means pro-killing-babies, which is completely untrue. Only 1% of abortions in the US are 3rd trimester, and third-trimester abortions are for the safety of the mother and at a doctor's request, because the fetus has no chance of survival and carrying the pregnancy to term could be fatal for the mother. Third trimester abortions are extremely emotionally painful for the mother, and Trump is suggesting that these mothers are murderers for doing what's best for them, saying that they "rip the baby out of the womb at 9 months."

Hey, Assface. That's called childbirth.

Being pro-choice just means we believe a woman has the right to control what happens to her body, not the government. But you know what, Trump fans? You don't have to be pro-choice to be pro-women. Defunding Planned Parenthood would discontinue healthcare services for millions of women.

6) He's sexist.

He has called numerous women ugly and fat, has stated that pregnancy is inconvenient to business, that pumping breast milk is "disgusting," that women are gold diggers and rely on sex appeal to trick men, among several other disgusting remarks that you can read by scrolling down his Twitter profile.

Need I even bring up the whole "grab her by the pussy" thing?

7) He doesn't believe in climate change.

Trump believes climate change is a hoax invented by China, and doesn't believe that it's caused by human activity. He also wants to eliminate the Dept. of Environment Protection. This is a disastrous way of thinking, because the planet that we live on, that our children live on is being destroyed. A Trump presidency would ensure environmental disaster.

8) Gun Control.

Trump wants to get rid of gun-free zones. This means he wants guns to be allowed in schools. He thinks that if every citizen carries a gun, mass shootings will stop. Where is the logic in that? Americans die from gun violence every day. So far in 2016, there have been more mass shootings than there have been days. Trump has stated he "wants to take the guns away from bad people," but has provided no specifics on how to do so.

Look for yourself here.

9) He mocks veterans and the disabled.

Remember when Trump said John McCain wasn't a war hero because he was captured, and then refused to apologize for it? How about when he said he risks just as much as fallen soldiers by being a businessman? Or when he mocked a disabled reporter? Maybe you'll remember the time he was given a Purple Heart, an award meant for the wounded and killed men and women of our armed forces, and then said, "I always wanted a Purple Heart. This was much easier!"

Donald Trump has no idea what it means to be a veteran, and has no idea what it takes to sacrifice everything for your country. He is not fit to be Commander-in-Chief.

10) He's a shitty businessman.

So many supporters have come to his side saying, "Going bankrupt happens all the time! It's a part of business!" Try telling that to the thousands of people that have lost their jobs due to his irresponsibility. He has filed bankruptcy six times. Here's another long list of Trump's failed business ventures.

Listen, Trump supporters: I know there is good in you somewhere. Regardless of your values and beliefs, Trump has proven over and over to be an unfit president. So many lives are at stake, your children's lives are at stake. I, along with millions of people, beg you to look at the facts and reconsider. A Trump presidency would destroy this country.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
