1.The Country Feels
Even though I am from a very urban part of Connecticut, when I roll down my windows, it’s like I am there in the song. Country music is so amazing at being descriptive with the country landscape and setting the scene that no matter where I am, I feel like I'm part of the story. I get those country feels and I get to pretend I'm actually from the countryside for a few minutes.
2. The Patriotism
Country music in particular is huge on American pride. This genre of music is incredibly unique to America and so many of my favorite country songs honor veterans and our United States Military. They also simply bring light to all of our freedoms, what is best about America and why we are lucky to live here. God Bless.
3. Carrie Underwood
Or as I like to call her, a goddess. She’s perfect. Carrie is simply incredibly talented, funny, real, and probably one of the most impressive singers to ever live let alone a great entertainer and beautiful in every way. I know every word to all of her songs and they are all so different and it’s amazing how you can actually hear her growth with every album.
4. Women In Country Are Powerful
Carrie, along with other perfect country women such as Martina McBride and Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves and many others, have each added something new and beautiful to the Country genre. They are each sassy and emotional in their own ways and you can feel the meaning to their words in every song they sing.
5. Great Role Models
The women I mentioned above and so many others in this genre are perfect examples of great role models. Controversy in the country genre is hard to come by because the entertainment is so focused on the beauty of the music alone. If you watch the CMAs you will not see much crazy dancing or many controversial outfits but instead you will hear the most talented singers pouring their hearts out.
6. The Emotion
Behind every song there is a story. Happy or sad, there is something you can relate to. I have never heard a country song that was just a mindless beat or confusing to understand, There is always a message that tugs as the heartstrings and makes you feel real emotion.
7. Diversity in Sound
Country music was made for everyone in every situation. Many people fear they can’t relate to country music, try listening to Miranda Lambert's “Over You” or Darius Rucker’s “This.” Two completely different songs recorded by two completely different people and these country songs are able to pull emotion out of a girl from the urban Connecticut. Country music is as diverse as can be, but the genre comes together to make music that truly touches you.
8. The Evolution
Country Music goes back so incredibly far, from old artist like George Strait to the newest of new artists such as Maren Morris. Country covers all the bases of time. It's amazing how you can hear the style of country change throughout the years, but they are all still country, and all those songs still can relate to one another.
9. The Country Themes
The themes of country songs are what makes country country; however, they’re not as predictable as you might think. Yes there are a ton of songs about tractors, farms, boots, whiskey and mud. However there are also so many beautiful country songs where the theme is deception, loss, beauty standards or being yourself. Besides the fun stuff about living on a farm and finding a country girl, there are some deeply emotional themes that will touch you in way you never thought. Just listen to a full Rascal Flatts or Eric Church album.
10. Country Music is Timeless
Ok, what 90s kid didn’t grow up listening to Shania Twain and Martina McBride? (If you didn't, listen now — its worth it.) I still listen to Alan Jackson for Heaven's sake. Country music reaches across generations. There is no throwback playlist necessary for country. All the songs and artists go together. No matter what point in life you're in, or how old a song is, country is always the genre you can go to for meaningful music that makes you feel good.
