10 Reasons Why College Students From Tenafly NJ Want To Come Home For Thanksgiving Break

As many stressful weeks have past by thus far in college, the only thing left on our minds is Thanksgiving break. How I'm going to make the most of my short trip home? I am constantly being reminded as there has been so much I have missed. Since I have been gone, it feels as if so much has changed. Whole Foods has finally arrived, the new coffee place, Tenafly Coffee Company, is the new hot spot in the town, and our typical lunch date at Foova is on the top of my list and I can't wait to go! So here are my to "To Do's" for when I go back to Tenafly this Thanksgiving Break.

1. Raid the new Whole Foods.

Of course, the long lasted wait is finally over because Whole Foods has finally arrived to a place near us! Unfortunately for us college kids, we couldn't go before we left but now I can't wait to start my new lifestyle, living off their food (Don't worry I promise to try my Mom's Thanksgiving dinner too!). Even though it's not in the heart of Tenafly, it is definitely worth the trip!

2. Check out the new coffee place, Tenafly Coffee Company.

Finally, a new coffee place to make myself at home! After the past couple years of constantly going to Cafe Angelique all the time, I think it's finally time for me to claim a new place to get rid of my important coffee needs. As a coffee enthusiast, I can't wait to see what this place has in store and maybe I'll even get some of the homework I'll be pushing off done!

3. But when that place is too busy... I'll be heading back to Cafe Angelique.

Their Israeli bagel toast is a must have! I couldn't even refrain myself from asking my amazing parents to bring me some for family weekend, and when they replied saying "no", I may or may not have shed a few tears. I can taste the egg, tomato, cheese and pesto right now! Yum!

4. Target! Target! Target!

Just like my excitement for Whole Foods, we finally got a target closer to us!!! Target might not be the best place for me to go while I am on my college budget but I think I might have to go check it out anyway. Target is great for all of your needs, however, some how I always manage to get lost in there for hours on end. I mean when you can only try on ten items of clothing at once and your cart is practically overflowing, you know you might have a slight issue...

5. Foova.

One of the many things I have seriously had a withdrawl of while studying at the University of Maryland is Foova. Of course we have sushi restaurants and I am able to get most of the same rolls I get there, but it is just not the same. Foova just makes me happy and as confusing as that might seem, it most definitely will be one of my first few stops when I get home.

6. Celebrity Bagels.

Don't get me wrong, Bagel Place in College Park is surely amazing, but there still isn't anything like a nice toasted bagel with cream cheese, lox and sliced tomatoes from Celebrity Bagels. These bagels are delicious and the fact I am unable to have them every Sunday morning certainly hasn't been easy! Hope all the employees remember me when I finally make my way back!

7. Dunkin Donuts.

I used to always think of myself as a Starbucks kind of girl, but ever since I got to UMD, I have missed it so much. No Dunkin Donuts on campus? What is this?! The daily drive-thru runs are not the same when you either have to take a bus or Uber there. Can't wait to get my fix of medium Iced Caramel Latte's with Skim Milk and a small straw, when I get home!

8. Ray's Traditional Pizza.

Although Ray's is very similar to a pizza place we have here on campus called Slice's Company, nothing will ever live up to their delicious Penne with Vodka Sauce Pizza after a long day of studying. Mhmm, it's almost as if I can taste it from here.

9. Garden State Plaza.

I for one certainly enjoy a nice relaxing day at the mall and I'm pretty sure that the past two months have been the longest I have gone without shopping! Of course I have been online shopping like crazy (on my college budget don't worry Mom and Dad!), but I miss being able to just go when ever I wanted to, especially because every mall is only about a twenty minute car ride away.

10. New Pinky's Nails

What's a trip home without stopping to one of the thousand nail salons we have in our town? After two months of holding myself back from getting my nails done, I am beyond excited to get these bad boys all cleaned up. If my college budget ever taught me anything it is that getting my nails done certainly trumps all of the food I could be indulging in.

Now that I think about it, I guess I will be going home and practically eating my way through my short couple days off... to sum it all up, college students certainly do have many reasons to come home to Tenafly for Thanksgiving Break! Besides hitting these hotspots, having a nice home cooked meal and being surrounded by family sounds even greater (besides the thousands of questions I'm already anticipating!!). Can't wait to see how many of these fabulous places I manage to get to during my short break.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
