It is finally that time of the year again -- a time to leave beer bellies and dad bods behind, as I return to my favorite place on earth, Israel. From its incredible sites, to its beaches, to its food, Israel never fails to amaze me with her beauty and uniqueness. It is time to strap on those Teva sandals, hop on a camel's back and discover what Israel has to offer. Here are a few of the many reasons why I can't wait to go back to the middle east.

1. Ice Café

If you love your daily dose(s) of caffeine as much as I do, then you must try Israel’s infamous Ice Café. Imagine a Starbuck’s Frappuccino without all the cream and syrup, but twice as delicious and rich.

Yes friends, it exists.

2. The Beaches

There’s really nothing better than jumping into an ocean that is 80 degrees warm and crystal clear. It is no wonder Israeli’s are known for their golden brown tans and incredible beach bods. Who wouldn’t want to spend every second at a beach like this?

3. Food

Where do I begin? The fluffy pitas and lafas filled with deep fried chickpea fritters smothered in hummus and fresh greens, the mint-infused lemonade, the rich Shakshuka, a dish of eggs poached in a spicy tomato sauce…Yum!

4. Night Life

When the clubs only open at midnight, you know it’s going to be a long night. After a relaxing day at the beach, what better way to show off your golden tan than at a party -- or maybe three. Israel is known for its stunning night life and its incredible ability to stay up ‘round the clock.

5. The Attire

Look up comfortable in the dictionary and you are sure to find a picture of an Israeli wearing ripped jeans and a white T-shirt. Israel has adopted the "casual Friday" tradition and made it a casual everyday tradition.

6. Chocolate

Five words: chocolate milk in a bag.

7. Diversity

Israel is the home to Arabs, Israelis, religious and secular Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze, Circassians, Samaritans and many more. Most Israelis are also fluent in Hebrew, Arabic and English. How’s that for a melting pot?

8. The Shuks

These outdoor marketplaces are filled with vendors who sell fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, nuts, spices, clothing, shoes, jewelry and much more! There is no better spot to bargain for some souvenirs and a bazooka-bubblegum T-shirt.

9. Jewelry

White opal, blue opal, pink opal, green opal. It just doesn’t get much better than that.

10. The People

Thank you, Israel, for giving birth to the happiest, sweetest, coolest people around.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
