10 Reasons Why Being Single In College Is The Best Decision

There are two types of people in college: those who are looking to meet "the one," and those who are looking to just have fun. I've been both of those people, and I've come to a conclusion backed up by some pretty valid reasons: being single is the best.

1. Sharing a twin XL with another person is basically impossible.

I mean, honestly, sleeping in a twin XL by yourself sucks as it is. And if it is a bunk bed, things could get deadly if one of you is a restless sleeper.

2. Paying for yourself is much cheaper than paying for two.

One bowl at Chipotle = roughly $8. Two bowls = roughly $16. Do you know what you could have done with that extra $8? Bought yourself another bowl, or like 2 mixed drinks during happy hour. Priorities people, priorities.

3. You can sleep peacefully knowing ain't no one cheating on you tonight.

A night out with the friends doesn't result in a "K have fun" text from your S.O., you can go out and go to bed knowing you don't have to deal with drama in the morning.

4. College life is busy enough, fitting another person in your schedule is too stressful.

Classes, work, homework, extra curricular, social life, and a S.O.? Finding time to sleep is hard enough, but including a whole other person? No thank you, I need naps.

5. You don't have to worry about how your actions might affect a S.O.- you can just do you.

Someone hitting on you at the bar? Who cares. Planning a last minute vacation? Only have to worry about yourself. Date party? Who wants to dance with just one person when you could dance with 50?

6. What happens post-graduation and you both get job offers in different states?

The after college possibilities are literally endless. If something like this happens, you either have to go separate ways or one of you has to give up your dream. Neither is a fun option for everyone.

7. Partners can come and go, but your college friends can be for life and those relationships are more important.

Most of us want to settle down some day, but honestly it is much more likely for your S.O. to exit your life before your best friends do. Don't ignore your friends for someone who may or may not be temporary- if it is meant to be, it will be.

8. There isn't the stress of fighting and crying and all the other miserable stuff that goes with a relationship.

No getting in fights about where to eat, no one making you cry or calling you names. No drunken fights at 2am over literally nothing. Just you doing you.

9. You don't have to shave the entire winter season and no one will care.

No shave November? More like why the hell shave winter.

10. You can drunk-eat an entire pizza while laying on the floor and feel absolutely no shame.

Also, it doesn't matter if you keep a smokin' hot bod up or not. Pizza > everything.

I'm not here to judge- if you prefer a relationship there is no problem with that. But I'm tired of the comforting looks I receive when I tell all my taken friends I'm single. Don't feel sorry for me, I chose this life. And let me tell you, I regret absoluely nothing.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
