10 Reasons Why I Am Leslie Knope
Hello Giggles

I literally talk about how I'm pretty much exactly like Leslie Knope all the time, but I feel like I need to drive the point home more until I don't get that awkward stare anymore from unbelievers when I start to geek about her. Like, you don't understand how much she is me. And what better way to make my point than through a wonderful journey in GIFs? *whacks down gigantic color-coded binder*

1. You probably haven't seen me at any college dances, but this is basically what I look like. I am thankful that usually the dance floor is very dark and no one can see me. This is also why I usually hide out in a large group of friends while dancing in public.

2. Some people like to set their friends up on dates. I don't do that. I don't trust my decisions regarding romance, after witnessing my own love life. However, if we are close friends, I will always be on the lookout for true love for you. Granted, you're the one who will most likely doing the asking out on that first date, but I'll be there. Silently supporting you. Always.

3. If I ever met David Tennant. Or Benedict Cumberbatch. Or Chris Pratt. Or Amy Poehler. The list goes on.

4. Someone recently asked me if I liked to play board games. I told him no. I've had to declare a ban on all board games after the many competitions I've had with my extended family that ended up something like this:

5. I don't get "cranky" too often. However, I do have those days when I'm just a little out of sorts and all I want is to find some pizza and whipped cream and climb into bed to watch Netflix. Once in a while, a well-meaning roommate would attempt to reach out to me in my aggravated state. "Are you okay? You seem a little cranky." My response?

6. I always say, you can tear me down, you can tease me and yell at me and punch me dead in the face, and there's a chance I'll be able to swallow my anger and let it pass with the grace of a lady. However, if a hair on the head of anyone or anything I love is touched, I will come for you and you will. go. down.

7. I never let my friends say they are anything less than perfect. I love you. You are perfect and wonderful and beautiful. Shut up.

8. I might get ticked off, but I forgive just as quickly.

9. As those who have attempted to argue with me know all too well, I am... engaged... to say the least...

10. I choose the people who I keep around me very carefully, and I love the heck out of them.

The end. You can't disagree with me on this anymore. I have proven it via moving images.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
