10 Reasons Why 2016 Was Your Year

Every year as we approach the end of December and the beginning of January, people tweet and write articles on and write Facebook posts to say that the ending year has really not been their year. People sometimes have bad years but not everybody has a bad year every single year. Instead of looking back on the year with pessimism and bitterness, let's look back at all the great things that happened this year and remember that it's the little things that count.

1. That shopping spree where you got great deals on everything.

2. When you got a better grade than expected on that huge research paper.

3. Every single time you laughed.

4. When spring came and made the world outside warm again.

5. When your brother actually responded to your snap chats.

6. Because you and your besties had tons of fun together.

7. That time that cute guy/girl actually smiled at you and your face looks like this:

8. Every single notification you got from your group messages. Because even though group texts are annoying, we can all be thankful to have friends like those.

9. When your mom randomly bought you coffee and some of your groceries and dropped them off at your dorm.

10. Because 2016 was full of great memories.

Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
