10 Reasons We Are Proud To Be Boilermakers

1. Diversity is indescribable. You would think the whole planet mashed together into one place as you make your way to West Lafayette. That is what makes Purdue such a great place. We accept each other, we learn from each other, and we strive to better one another. It is our culture, our habit, our lifestyle.

2. Purdue Pete is the G.O.A.T. As creepy looking as he may be, he can pump up any crowd. He brings out the loyalty in all of us. Football and basketball games would be nothing without the guy who made us all laugh and enjoy Purdue athletics. We may not hold the best records in the book, but we will always root for our Boilermakers and it would be nothing without the hammer and Pete.

3. Education is not taken lightly here in West Lala. We cannot just settle for "Ds get degrees." We work for what is rightfully ours. While Purdue is one of the hardest colleges to earn an A from, we work our butts off every day to prove that no matter how hard, that 4.0 can be ours. Late nights turn into early mornings, but once those finals are done we can celebrate the victories of trying our best.

4. Mackey Arena is by far the loudest place I have ever been -- especially when those Hoosiers come into town. As a huge college basketball fan, I appreciate the fact the basketball teams here at Purdue know how to kick butt. As we work harder, day in and day out, the Boilermaker basketball players continue to prove the odds wrong. We're here to take names. Who's house? Our house, as we are forever proud of be Boilermakers.

5. Black and gold are always appropriate colors to rock, and we do it oh so well. The black stands for our strength. We will be defeated by nothing, and will conquer anything. We are a school of teamwork and success, and will not stop at nothing till we get what we deserve. Gold stands for our first place attitude. We live for our futures and our degrees. We strive to be the best, because we deserve the best.

6. Fight song. Our song embodies everything we stand for at Purdue. "Hail Purdue" is an anthem of our lives as we kick butt here in the next four, or however many years. We are "ever grateful, and ever true" to all that she (Purdue) has provided for us. We know we are lucky to be here, and we do nothing short of appreciating that every day. We owe our successful futures to Purdue.

7. The people make this place. I have met some of my closest friends, here, and I can thank Purdue for that. If it means meeting them in your dorm or living down the hall from them in the sorority, Purdue has taught me to be grateful for all those I have met here. We have a bond, each and every one of us. We have greatest to prove, and while we're here we'll do just that.

8. The beauty of this campus makes us speechless. No, we do not have a national park running through our backyard, but we have architecture and beautiful structure. Our campus is very much built as it's students are. We are built to stand tall and strong. We surround this campus with history and tradition. This campus holds it's own kind of beauty; a beauty only known to those who can appreciate that Hoosier limestone is awful.

9. The bond between Boilermakers will live on forever. We're a school of no other kind. We're all different but have the same goal. That goal as Purdue students is to go out into the world and to make our school and each other proud. This indescribable bond is something we will hold in our hearts forever. We come from different parts of the world in search of success in and out of the classroom. Purdue does nothing short of providing that for us.

10. Purdue is the reason we are proud. Purdue is the reason we know we will be successful someday. All of those here to guide us and help us grow make us proud to say, "I am a Boilermaker." That sense of pride will never leave us, and Purdue will forever be a part of us. Purdue is so much more than a place to get an education, it is a way to live life, and no one will understand it until they experience it themselves.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
