10 Reasons to Vote for Honest Johnson

It's simple. Hillary Clinton is a corrupt, lifelong politician with scandals, secrets, and illegal activity lurking in the shadows. Donald Trump is a man without Constitutional principles. He's emotional whirlwind that bullies and whines when confronted with facts, policy differences, and questions about his character. Others running for President of the United States like Jill Stein, Darrell Castle, and Evan McMullin are hardly known to the public and have no governing experience. There is ONE candidate who has the experience and character to be President as well as the right plan. His name is Gary Johnson, or as the popular hashtag says, #HonestJohnson. He was a Governor. He's climbed Mt. Everest. He's not eloquent, but he's as real as they come. Here are 10 reasons you should vote for him.

1. You can! Gary Johnson is on all 50 state ballots so you have the opportunity to vote for him without having to write him in or choose between the lesser of two evils.

2. He has experience! Gary Johnson was a popular and successful, Republican Governor of New Mexico for 8 years.

3. He is Libertarian! You may not know much about the Libertarian Party or agree with their entire platform, but they are the 3rd largest political party in the country and growing rapidly. Check out what they stand for here: www.lp.org

4. We want peace! Gary Johnson believes in peace through strength, which means we should have a strong national defense, but must stop engaging in interventionism and foreign nation-building. We could finally end the wars.

5. We want freedom! Gary Johnson wants to get the federal government out of your bedroom and out of your pocket. That means social inclusiveness and lower taxes.

6. He is not a Democrat or Republican! It's long overdue that we break the control of the two-party system that never changes and never accomplishes anything except creating a country where it's more difficult than ever for you and me to succeed.

7. He can balance a budget! Our country is fiercely approaching the $20 trillion dollar mark in national debt and our federal government could care less. Gary Johnson balanced budgets as a Governor and created surpluses. He was also a successful entrepreneur who sold his construction company to become independently wealthy.

8. We need unity! Our country is becoming more divided by the year racially, politically, ideologically, and by social classes. It's time for a leader who can represent and cooperate with everyone because that's what America is about.

9. The war on drugs must end! It's been a disastrous failure and has especially failed minorities including African-American males. Gary Johnson will make criminal justice reform a top priority.

10. We need better education in America! Since the federal government took control of the education in our country we have failed to reach reasonable goals to compete with other countries in things like math and science. Gary Johnson will finally close down the federal Department of Education and send control back to the states where parents and teachers can truly collaborate for the sake of all children.

And one more because it so important:

11. Gary Johnson will audit the Federal Reserve, which has been operating with stealth and corruption for decades, going unchecked and without any accountability.

Many of you might say it's a pointless vote. You say, "Gary Johnson can't win." Well, you may be right. If too many Americans believe what you are saying then yes, it's impossible for him to win. Still, even if he doesn't win, a principled vote for something and someone you can believe in is why so many have fought and so many have died to protect that privilege. I don't think they gave their lives so we could choose between the lesser of two evils. They died so we could be free to choose our own representation. Do your research and you may find more in common with him than you think.

Remember to ask yourself before voting, "Would I rather vote for someone I believe in and lose or vote for someone I'm unsure of and win, but regret what they do then?"

"I hope that people will see that we don't have to sit by the sidelines and watch as the two major parties limit their choices to slightly different flavors of the status quo. It is, in fact, possible to join the fray, stand up for principles and offer a real alternative." Gov. Gary Johnson

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
